  1. Hi all

I gather there were 10 people and 7 cars at the July meeting at the Muskham Ferry and the weather was great (again :)). That sounds like a perfect number, enough cars to look good and few enough people so you could talk to everyone. Pity I missed it. Thanks to all who supported it and to the Notts team for their additional support.

As for August, I wasn't going to organise a meeting as I am not back till the 22nd and we have Donington at the end of the month. But I just realised that the Stamford Car Show is on the 24th. Pete Lee and I have decided to go there, and anyone else is welcome to join us. So we will call that the nominal 'August' meeting :)

If you are interested you will need to register at http://www.stamfordr...vents/car-show/ it's nominally free but they suggest a £5 donation to charity at the entrance.

Closer to the date we can arrange to meet up somewhere so we arrive in convoy.

Please let me know if you wish to come with us.

    Cheers

  2. I've added quite a few more to the list (forgot to check the Garage section of the site). Now runs to 37 owners, unfortunately none near me :) Must be a lot more out there but they obviously haven't seen this forum.

Decided not to make it generally available just in case anyone objects (although the details are on the site for all to find) so if anyone wants an up-to-date copy just PM me.

  3. Very close to home for me. My eldest son was the manager of the Northampton branch. Not one of the 33 they sold, so after 2 weeks working for KPMG he is out on the street. And of course they timed the closure to be just days before the end of the month so no-one gets paid for June. Fingers crossed he can find something else fairly rapidly.

  4. The boot space is for a tent, 2 chairs sleeping bags, cooker and beer and if space allows food. All of which you will need.

Luckily my wife refuses to ride in the car so I can use the passenger footwell for all that :)
  5. However my question, when do you feel comfortable with a new kit car, for some reason I was expecting to breakdown and got slightly nervous when driving at speed

Never. After a year and 2000 miles I still feel like that :)
  6. Just as a followup now my problem has been fixed. Contrary to my initial understanding the UJ was NOT welded to the steering shaft and the steering shaft WAS splined. My problem was simply worn splines and an inability to tighten the UJ bolts enough with 'ordinary' spanners. Once the splines were renovated a bit with a triangular file and the bolts were done up with an enormous wrench, steering is now rock solid.

  7. After the successful 'Southern' meeting in June at the Castle Bytham Midsummer Fair it's time to have a 'Central' one again, so the next meeting will be another Sunday Pub Lunch on the 27 July probably at the Muskham Ferry in Newark (NG23 6HB) where we had our inaugural meeting.

    So far I have

Ian & Carole (Ian & Carole)

    Richard (richard7)

    Tom (toms2b)

    Nigel & Helen (niduncan)

Peter & Anne (Peter Lee) (depending on state of car)

    Mick & Stella (mowerman)

Unfortunately I won't be able to join you for this one as after almost 10 months enforced stay in the UK I have decided to wrench my life back from the NHS appointment system and am going on a long overdue (and long) holiday :) But I will be back in plenty of time for Donington. I will try and lay on the weather again.

Anyone else who would like to attend please let me know so we can warn the pub on probable numbers.

    Cheers

  8. My thermostatic switch on the radiator had failed but the general advice on here was not to try and replace it as getting it sealed was a nightmare and to fix an adjustable one. Like 'Larkingabout' I struggled to get the hose back on with the probe inside, so as a temporary fix I just clamped it to the metal top hose. As it turned out it actually works rather well so have left it like that :)

  9. Thanks John I had forgotten I posted this. Basically I have had replies from 18 Superspec owners with all their details. I know Pete the Dog has one but he hasn't told me which engine. The engine breakdown is:

12 owners still have the Rover 2.0L 'T' + MT75 (although 1 has the Turbo engine).

3 owners use the Zetec engine, 1 with a Type 9, 1 with an MT75 and one unknown

    2 owners use a Pinto and a Type 9

    1 owner has a Galaxy 2.3 !!

I'll message each of you with the details so you know who to ask Superspec-specific questions.

  10. Whilst not wishing to 'pull rank', as an Area Secretary I find it handy to be able to edit my original post regarding a meeting to add to the list of attendees as the responses arrive. That would mean I would have to vote for '30 days' or 'Unlimited' whereas I can actually see the logic of a much shorter time. Would it be possible to have a different set of rules for the Event Notification area of the forum or is that not possible ?

  11. Bearing in mind that every part is brand new (Apart from the reconditioned rear axle), it appears to been professionally built, has the turbocharger and it has done only 150 miles I actually think that is a fair price. Wonder why it has sat for 2 years doing nothing ?
