  1. Does the fuel tank filler neck/pipe need to be marked with fuel, similar to the fuel supply pipes to the carbs? As I need to get some flexi hose to take from the filler cap tio the tank but can't find one that you can bend less than 300mm radius. Thanks Paul
  2. I'd be interested if you've still got them, as the the time of reckoning is nearly in sight> Thanks, Paul
  3. Thanks everyone for the tips I'll try all of the above, I especially like the Vodka, for me not the plastic, one as this will time fly by as it normally does when I have a tipple!!! thanks again, Paul
  4. Thanks for the advice, I tried the hairdrier but this didn't help much. I think that the problem has come from having the panels temperarely fitted while moving in and out the garage. The plastic appears to become brittle especially if the panel has been bent/formed. The biggest problem I have is that I have attached the grp wheel arches (which have been freshly sprayed) and that whatever I do I hope won't need these painting again. Thanks, Paul
  5. As the end is nearly in sight I have just tried to unvail the nice shiny wheel arches and am somewhat frustrated with the protective plastic covering. The wheel arches have a thin blue plastic covering not like the majority of the panels which has a thick white plastic (black backed). I spent approx 3 hours on Saturday trying to remove film and gave up with only finger nail size pieces of plastic comming off in a go which also left a dull sheen on the stainless which looks like adhesive. The only thing that I could get to work is superglue remover but this is painfully and soul destrying. has anyone got any good tips for removing the plastic as I am totally P'ed with he amount of time I am spending trying to get the plastic off.
  6. Hi Ben, sent you a PM.
  7. Thanks for the answer, you're right that shoulder straps are the problem ans the lap straps are more like chest straps!!! Has anyone used the eye bolt and snap hook style seat belts or would these cause unecessary hassle during the sva?
  8. I am about to fit my 4 point Sabelt harness into my 2B4 and am not satified that the supplied belts are long enough. The belts are the one supplied with the kit and think that they are 4 Point Caterham Race/Rally Harnesses. Has anyone had this problem, if so what were used as replacements as I can't seem to find any lengths of belts on any website. Thanks Paul
  9. I saw Pete about 6 months and he worked wonders on my engine went from just running to one that starts first time everytime. I would recomend to anyone who needs to get their engine running how they want!

    Engine Breathing

thanks for the advice! I dont think the piston rings are the problem as the compression is good. i dont have a lot of oil only vapour comming from the filter on the catch tank. i think i'll try adding some wire wool into the catch tank to try and get the oil to condense into droplets instead of blowing straight out.

    Engine Breathing

I have alot of fumes coming from the rocker cover and decided to introduced oil catch tank. once getting it all up and running I managed to move the problem of fumes from the oil filler cap to the filter on the catch tank. I also have the crankcase breather going into the catch tank also. Has anyone else had this problem? I've spoke to burtons and they suggested that the oil catch tank should have a hose from the bottom going back into the sump below the oil level. Has anyone done this, if so did it help and how was it done. thanks, Paul

    Car Transport

I need to get my 2b+ to a rolling road to get the carb and timing sorted. Does anyone know of a company around Cambridge that would hire trailer + car to tow. It seems that hire cars don't come with tow bars, I guess its to do with insurance? Any help would be appricaited as I only need to travel about 7 miles each way. thanks, Paul

    Engine Stalling

I have recently been brave enough to get my car moving under its own power, as opposed to the normal pushing in and out of the garage, which went far better than I thought. The only problem I had is after stopping under braking and attempting to select the next gear the engine would nearly stall when I put the clutch in. If I dab the accelerator prior to changing to keep the revs high enough it would be fine. I currently have a 2.1l pinto with twin 40 carbs. Any help/advice to what could be the problem would be appriciated!!! Paul

    Camp America

When I finished uni I went on camp America in upstate New York, Had a great time every, other night off down the local watering hole. Was hard work but well worth the hassle!!!
  15. Thanks for the help!! yet another disaster averted
  16. Thanks for the help, do i need to trim the bottom of the rollover tubes down where the strut adapter fitting slides into as the videos suggest??
  17. I have read the other post on the lengths of coil overs and have decided to change the zimmers to Gaz struts. I phoned dampertech and got a quote of £300 inc vat and P&P which was the cheapest I found. They did querry the length of the back strut, I decided to 18 open and 11.5 closed, they mentioned that it should be either 16" or 17". the lenghts quoted on for the rear strut, does this assume that the bottom of the rear coilover has been reduced? as I haven't cut any off the bottom or do I need to? Thanks, Paul

    Twin Carb Fitting

Does anyone know of anywhere other than burtons that good for parts. Been trying to find a source for the reduced inlet manifold (1.15"/30,0mm) mentioned earlier as burtons don't know when they're getting some in???

    Twin Carb Fitting

Thanks for the advice, I was looking to buy the shortened inlet manifold from burtons!!
  21. I am trying to fit a twin 40 dellorto to my 2B+ and have notice that the front trumpet is about a 1/4" away from the chassis which doesn't allow me to fit any air filters  . I am looking at fitting a short inlet manifold which might do the trick, Has anybody else encountered this and what was the solution?

    Column Electrics

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one pulling my hair out on the wiring  . I have the VG diagram at revision one. would it be possible to send me a copy of the diagram at revision two.
