  1. Hi all.

I have a s3a with a c20xe engine mated to a type 9 gearbox. It's perfectly fine untill it's very hot after abit of spirited driving and then it's stiff going into first and won't go into reverse with grinding it in.

It has the yellow clutch self adjustment mechanism and cable which is carb side and not near a hot exhaust.

It has some adjusting nuts on the cable at the gearbox end and last time it did it I adjusted these up and it sorted it for abit but it hasn't lasted long.

Any thoughts before I pull the engine and do a clutch?

  2. Thanks all I got some mini ones today and just had to cut the metal dust shrouds off to get the coils to fit. That will get me away for now for £30 and I'll look into upgrading to some of the ones you lot have mentioned in the future. Hopefully we can have some get togethers this year so I can pick peoples brains on pros and cons of different makes before I commit to some.

    Thanks again

  3. Cheers. Im going to take rocker cover off and see if the cams have been changed or not and then double check the timing.

Failing that I'm looking for someone who can remap that style ecu which after abit if research might be hard as its quite an old system.

What aftermarket ecu would people recommend using or would it be better to find someone to map it and then see what ecu they would like.

  4. Hi all. Just picked up my s3 at the weekend and the paperwork for the twin 45s being setup says the timing is advanced to 16 degrees and it needs to be 10. Does anyone have any knowledge on whether the mbe967iD ecu will control the advance in the timing or if its more likely to be the vernier cam pulleys which are set up wrong.

    Thanks
