    Bledin' Brakes

I had the same problem even swapped master cylinders etc. but it was the way I'd built the footwell which didn't let the brake pedal go right down into its slot - it was hitting my nicely formed stainless before pedal travel was exhausted - cut a couple of slots in the stainless and heigh ho it was working perfectly - worth a check......
  2. I used a steel plate bolted to the block then mounted the alternator bracket onto that at a suitable height to clear everything

    Which Kit?

I'd go with the standard brakes and only upgrade them later if you find the need - suspect you won't.

    Emmisions

sounds a good plan !! only thing the exhaust hole will be on the wrong side - need to patch it at engine swap time

    Sva Pass At Glasgow

I bought the kit part built and the guy I bought it from had had them made. I think the guy who does the front grills / exhaust covers also does windscreen brackets and can cut different designs into them. see here NW Hoodies for contact info

    Dvla Thing Again

I did this this week in Edinburgh Needed SVA first to get the MAC Went in in person to the DVLA with my docs - ( they have recently had an instruction that an MOT is NOT required). They checked the docs and said they would call as soon as they got the docs back ( up to 3 working days ) Next day at about 10:00 they called and I picked up my tax disk and reg no. from their office - they seem to have forgotten to look at the car! Local garage where I got the MOT had stamped the form to certify the chassis no was correctly stamped and also added the engine no.

    Pi***d Off Of Romford

If it is any consulation I found the SVA a lot less intimidating than the aura which has built up around it and went through the 'it's always darkest before the dawn' stage with an engine p155ing oil when I'd booked the SVA. KEEP GOING it's worth it.

Longboarder Thanks for the advice re setting the speedo - for the test I just set it 10% over and it was fine ( I have since read the manual and found I can load 4 profiles so I had another 3 setups just in case ) Good advise to set it high for SVA - inspector told me it will pass reading 70mph when the true roadseeed is 56!
  14. I just cut a layer of foam, covered it it a scrap of leaterette and wound a bit of insulating tape to keep it in place - took all of 5 minutes and SVA were happy with it

    Sva Pass At Glasgow

Cruised into Glasgow VOSA place just before 15:00 for the retest Into the office to pay my 30 quid and one of the inspectors says nearside front is almost flat - he is right just off the rims and no more - fortunately my inspector says it is rear wheel drive so we can do the speedo check then worry about it later. Quick check of my outstanding 'edge' and indicator rate, onto the rollers and 1 min later thumbs up from the inspector ( Thanks Kevin - tells me he hates kit cars - suspect he loves them really ) They then send me to one of the truck lanes to get the tyre inflated to get me to the nearest tyre place. 5 minutes later MAC in hand I'm off to the nearest wee town to find a tyre place, 30 mins later valve problem is sorted ( no charge - thanks guys ) and somehow the tomtom took me the long way home. Just the built up thingy to go......................

    Sva Fail At Glasgow

Hi Failed SVA at Glasgow this morning - things started off badly last night when I went for my friends trailer and it was all locked up and he was uncontactable. Sod it I'll just drive it!!! Glad I did now - inspector was well impressed that a Robin Hood had a) made it the 56 miles there and had satnav !! Anyway to cut a long story short failed on 9.1 indicators do no flassh at correct rate ( fixed added another 10W buld in the nosecone 13 front indicator stalks have non radiused edges ( this was the inspectors boss - inspector said he'd be much more concerned about the ton of metal dirctly behind it - fixed with a bit of self amalgumating tape ) 20 Speedo indicates a speed less than the true speed of the vehicle ( don't see where I went wrong with this one - used 2 x tomtom's which are within 2-3 mph of my and my sons road cars yet they said when I was reading 70 I was actually doing 81! still it is an electronic one so I guess I'll take it to a rolling road ) All in all I'm can't stop grinning
