  1. This is fantastic that conversations like this have started. How very true, it is all about communication and suggesting ideas for the area secs to pick up on, but also with the new areas it would be a great to assist the area secs in getting club attendances up and running. We need to consider social get togethers e.g. Meeting at ice cream parlours (Wallings at Cockerham for example), keep the ideas and suggestions coming. 😁

Run out to Ribblehead viaduct tonight. Good place for a meet up and drive around the country roads.

Hi Tom, great picture, is that a pull in/ car park? would be great to get a few cars lined up for a picture 😀

  3. Hi All,

Great run out to the Corner House meet today, it was great to see a number of UK KCC members. Sorry if I didn’t see you all it was a very busy meet with over 200 cars and not everyone stood by their cars and why should they!!! I must admit I got a few strange looks from people as I asked them if they were members and an even stranger look when I asked them to consider joining.

Attached are a few pictures from the meet, more can be seen by visiting the Corner House meets face book page.

It was great to put some faces to names and talk to you about your cars and the builds behind them. All in all the comments made were very positive, the weather was perfect and the cars fantastic.

One comment I heard as a Sierra Cosworth drove by was "that would make a good donor!!" I hope the driver didn’t hear it, ha ha ha.

Thanks to all the members who turned up this morning, please keep your eye on the events forum for more run outs and events.

    Have fun

    Darrell

July was a good month for the Club Membership.  It was good to see 17 existing members renew their membership and continue to support the Club.   Even better news is that we had only 3 members who failed to renew.   And we also had 3 members who returned to the fold after some years away.   Welcome back.

Unusually we welcomed 14 new members.  I know it’s the summer when everyone gets their cars out and interest peaks, but I still think that is a healthy number.  So overall the membership has gone up to 387.

As usual it is disappointing to me how many forum users remain as Community Users rather than Members, even though the discount on their insurance policies (an average of 15% according to Adrian Flux) would more than cover the subscription fee.  So come on everyone, if you find the forum useful then please help support the Club.

So we welcome the following new members.  I’ve changed the form slightly to give their forum Usernames and county. If the username is rather obscure then I’ve added their first name in brackets:

    Paul Johnson                          Sussex

    Robert Taylor                         Lincolnshire

    Mrcaptainc (Christopher)      Staffordshire

    Andy Brown1                         North Lincolnshire

    Rachael Hinckley                  Surrey

    Gareth                                    County Durham

    Liam672                                 Kent

    Jtox (John)                            Yorkshire

    Daveo (David)                       Yorkshire

    Dave A                                   South Lincolnshire

    Paul Andrews                       Nottinghamshire

    Matthew Stevens                  Cambridgeshire

    Kenneth Southam                Staffordshire

    Gavin Mcfarlane                  Norfolk

Let’s hope we can maintain the momentum in August.

Can anyone tell me what I haven't or have clicked that has resulted in the pictures not showing!!?!?

Thanks for your advice, however they were ".HEIC" files?!? a quick google showed me how to convert to ".jpeg" files, some clicking and here are some of my photos for you to peruse... oh bugger!!! some are on their side, oh well not changing them now, enjoy everyone.

Did anyone get a picture of the car with the Phantom jet cockpit? that looked interesting

  7. It was my first Kit Car Show, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the dry weather was a god send travelling down from Blackpool. There were loads of cars of many types showing what an imaginative bunch we are. The manufacturers, parts and tool stalls were fab to potter around, boy am I glad I didn't take my credit card!!

The owners I chatted to were a friendly bunch, happy to chat about their pride and joy and willing to answer questions on how they did things or solved problems.

All in all a fab day. Fingers crossed for Stoneleigh and Newark next year.

What a fabulous day I had yesterday at the Newark Kit Car Show, it was great to faces to names that I have been messaging on the forums.

The sun shone and showed of the many different kit cars on show, what an imaginative bunch we are. A great turnout by the club, that I am sure could have seen more of us in attendance.

Wandering around the show I saw manufacturers in the main hall along with suppliers of parts, tools and 'bits n pieces' that one may need to build and tinker with their kit car, remember they are never finished!

I enjoyed talking to the owners who were more than willing to talk about their cars and offer advice to any question asked.  You could sit in cars to see if you fit, take pictures to remind you how a problem was overcome,…

All in all a great day, fingers crossed there is a Newark '23

How about a visit to the traction engines?

Not as an exhibitor (you are stuck in for the duration) but just as a get together.

    https://outdoorshows.co.uk/astle-park-traction-engine-rally/

Looking at the link there is much more than traction engines, this looks like a fantastic day out for your families.

if any of you decide to visit in your kit cars for a get together and day out why not post some pictures on Facebook to show what ‘we’ get up to.

    Hi Darrell

If you are just driving down for 1 day I would make it the Saturday as people tend to start to drift off home around lunch time on the last day of a show, Sunday in this case. Newark was always a very good show in the past.

    Dave.

brill thanks for that advice, looks like it will be Saturday then 👍

  13. Hi All,

You have seen the details regarding the Newark Kit Car Festival being held this weekend (see the separate event notification for details)

This event has been absent for 13 years, the weather should be good this weekend (ever the optimist!) so why not have a run down and a fantastic day/ weekend out.

I am sure if this event is supported then along with Stoneleigh we will have two great shows to look forward to in years to come.

I am planning on travelling down on one of the days (yet to be confirmed) is anyone else going? Let us know your intentions.

    Have fun

    Darrell

  14. Hi, I am planning on coming down on one of the days this weekend and was wondering how it works re parking at these shows, is it general parking or do we park as clubs/ types of kit cars etc with a few show cars on the stands shown above?
