  1. No, you're not reading the table correctly.

The left hand 4 columns refer to the state of the control switches.

The right hand 4 columns refer to the allowed condition of the lights relative to the switch state in that particular row.

Don't know if that's made it any clearer or worse..lol

  2. Hi Webby

I'm interested in the head as I have a Pinto with a head that's not converted to unleaded. I have family that lives in Rochester who are back from France on Wednesday this week. Are you ok to hold it until then?

    Cheers

  3. I never knew that there were different gear sizes!

Yes, there are different wheelboxes but the sweep can also be alterered by changing the gearwheel in the Lucas 14W wiper motor, as NeilD suggests. The gearwheel itself comes in only one size; the sweep angle choice is determined by the position of the crankpin that connects indirectly to the flexible drive. This crankpin is welded to the gearwheel at a defined distance from the centre. The further from the centre, the bigger the sweep angle. The sweep angle is normally stamped on the gearwheel.

I changed the wiper motor on my 2B from a (broken :( ) Mini one to a new Land Rover one ( :) ). I swapped the gearwheels as the Landy one had a different sweep angle.

  7. Hi Andrew,

I have the workshop manual for the MGTF on CD. I don't think there'll be much, if any, difference between F and TF regarding the clutch. The disc also covers R25, R45, CityRover, ZR and ZS (2002 Model Year to 2004 MY). It includes workshop manual, circuit diagrams, overhaul manuals, accessory fitting instructions etc etc for these models.

I'm sure I have the disc for MGF somewhere but can't put my hands on it.

I can send a copy of the disc to you if you want?

  8. Paul,

I'm not in a position to be able to come over to help you , sorry, but, as a rule of thumb, when you have multiple faults like you describe the first port of call is the earthing. Check all earth points are sound. It's best to undo them, clean up as necessary and remake. Check the condition of the wires going into the earth eyelets etc

    Good luck,

    Trev

  9. Chris,

The -ve terminal of the coil is part of the low tension circuit and is connected to the electronic module and also to the instrument pack for your rev counter. It is not normally connected to ground/earth/battery negative.

  10. Hi,

I have just measured the engine mount bracket thickness on my car (2.0l pinto from a Sierra) and they are appox 35mm. If yours are the same then the mounts in my picture are not long enough for you either. :( ..close but no cigar. Probably need a threaded stud lengh of around 60/65mm unless you do as Dave said and extend them.

  11. Graham,

    Did you get sorted?

The pic shows 2 brand new engine mounts that I have. They mount a 2.5 litre diesel engine. They look quite similar to the Sierra ones.

Does anyone out there have the dimensions for the Sierra ones? If so, how do they compare to the ones shown in the drawing in my previous post?

Maybe these are the answer to our engine mount problems!
