  1. Purchased a bush kit from kit spares, can anyone advise me on how to fit, i really don’t know how it passed the IVA test, I took the column out and there’s not the plastic parts I got from kitspares just the rubber bush, that’s why I have no idea of how it goes back together, spent most of the summer getting the car road worthy, the amount of loose bolts I’ve found is a joke, all advice welcome

Zetec on bike carbs would save you a world of pain and probably cheaper. There's no best ECU, you basically get what you pay for. Microsquirt is cheaper but problematic from my experience, Emerald or Omex more expensive but in my opinion better overall.

I know there not cheap, I really don’t want something that’s going to be problematic, want it as straight forward as possible

Depends on your definition of 'basic skills' and how big your wallet is. Bottom line - no engine change is easy, especially when you're changing the engine type like you are.

The most common ECU we use is Emerald but it 'aint cheap - around £750. There are others but fairly similar price, I think. Very rare to see them come up 2nd hand...

When you say a wiring harness, is that just for the engine and the standard harness? I literally removed everything from that and just used the existing injectors wiring, along with the long, thin black case (see my blog for details: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/2016/02/inching-on.html ).

I'm not familiar with the EFi engine - is the exhaust on the same side? You will probably have to re-do the engine mounts.

What gearbox do you have? For Zetec, need a type 9 or MT75 - anything else will require some extra customisation, if it is possible.

Probably lots of other stuff - good luck!

I have a MT75 gearbox….. the zetec blacktop engine I purchased was out of a automatic Mondeo so no flywheel or clutch, thanks for the link I’ll have a good look at your blog, I’m only £360 into a budget of 2.5k, I feel I got a bargain with the engine and throttle bodies plus loads of bits

  4. Hi all

my 2.0 dohc EFI is buggered, sounds like a bag of spanner’s and using a load of oil, I’ve just purchased a 2.0 zetec wiring harness Ford ecu, and GXSR 750 TB’s, all come together off ebay, how hard of a conversion will it be, only have basic skills to be honest, also what aftermarket ECU is best to run engine with Tbs, all advice welcome

RWD = rear wheel drive, they tend to shortened to give more ground clearance. I will have a ATR sump for blacktop for sale soon.

I got a kit off eBay for engine mounts, tacked them myself in situ and asked friend to do a proper job.

You do not need a water, it looks cleaner and you easily fit temperature and fan switch. Some have used original thermostat housing and pipe (hoover tube).

Just reading up on a zetec conversion I’m planning on doing, do you still have the ATR sump for sale…… long shot but worth a ask

    Hi there all

    I've recently purchased a rolling 2b

I'm on the hunt for bodywork  mainly wheel arch  nose cone  and bonnet  I'm looking to do a open frame build (rebuild)  so only require these actual parts  , I'm in the North east  so postage would be helpful  I can arrange couriers if needed

I will be changing my front/rear arches on my 2b at the end of the month, there stainless front and rear covered in red vinyl…. I’m going for GRP set, your more then welcome to them if you want to pay the postage….

  7. My 2b Sierra 2.0 DOHC EFI, isn’t running properly hunts really badly at idle I have to keep my foot slightly on the revs at lights or feels like it’s going to cut out, standard Ford ecu fitted, bottoms out at just under 80mph, any ideas welcome…….. I don’t want to spend mad money as I’m planning a engine conversion for winter

  8. VXR would be good, Just wanting advice of how hard of a job it will be to complete,  I have a 5 speed type 9 box, so bell housing conversion also engine mounts…. Any ecu’s I’m really not sure of what I need to be very honest, I’m no mechanic a friend of mine is, I’d rather have as much information before I commit to it….. thanks also for the reply tractor

  9. Hi guys looking at getting a bit more power out of my 2b….. I have a Ford dohc EFI Sierra engine now, been looking at a Fiesta ST engine, or maybe a Vauxhall Astra VXR L20LEH full engine loom turbo etc, I won’t be doing anything until the winter want to enjoy as much summer as possible first….   any advice would be great

  10. 18psi on the front 20psi on the rear as that’s what I use to run my old 2b on, the original zimmer rides suspension, I had 15 inch alloys on at the moment, good tread on all tyres, never heard of the name before tho road x on the tyre, what tyres would you recommend for my 15 inch wheels I’m getting next week, updating them as I don’t like the boy racer ones I have now

  11. Hi all.

probably been asked a millions times before, the handling on my 2b is shocking extremely tail happy to say the least, I’ve had a 2b 04 in the past, handled like a dream compared to what I just bought…. Just waiting on a set of team dynamic pro race 1.2, hopefully that will help with the grip and…. With good tyres of course, just wondered what else I could try to make it a bit better
