    Powder Coating

Hi Daz Hi have got a powerder coater from these guys and for the price its brilliant i dont believe you live to far away from me so you can borrow mine if you like. I have done my brake caliper steering column and drive shafts and all come out like new.
  3. Hi Simon I got this number from Keith at GBS its golden yellow 3754 i got told if i gave this ref number when getting paint mixed this would be as close a match a possible. I have not get any mixed yet so cant tell you how near it is to the original colour but should be a good match. i plan on doing my hoops in this colour but not got round to doing it. Hope this helps
  4. No its my fault not very clear post. but just bought some more shiny new dust caps so thanks
  5. Hi thanks for the reply but its the seal that fits between the hub knuckle and the hub assembly. just wondering if anybody has bought a new wheel bearing kit for one recently, and could measure the seal size and post me the details as i might as well now replace the lot while i am at it
  6. Sounds good to me as its only down the m4 for me. my zero not built yet but will bring my other toy with me for the track as i just got it chipped and need to try it out properly
  7. Hi I have just purchased another pair of front up rights from a scrap yard for my zero and they need a new oil/grease retainer as when i stripped them down the bearing seemed to be good and smooth with no pitting but the grease retainer are shot to bits. I eventually ordered a new pair from my local unhelpful ford dealer who told me they could not source the part as i don't have a registration number as i got them from a scrap yard (rant over) 2 week after ordering they arrived and went to fit them, but they are the wrong size and need to go back to the nice chap at ford. (I think they have ordered rear ones not front) i believe that the car the hubs came off was a 93 plate sierra as i am told by the scrappy with abs sensors on them. the diameter of the original seal is 64mm and the new one that arrived where 70 mm. Does anybody now the part number for this part or know where i can get some from. Thank in advance for any replies

    Looms And Ecu

Hi chaps, after a bit of advice on what works best really. i am looking at buy a emerald k6 ecu but a put of buy the price. Are there any other units people have used and would recommend using. Also how easy is it to make your own wiring loom, is it a cost effective way of saving money or should i not be so tight a buy one from gbs a i see they have one with the right connections to the emerald ecu unit. i dont really want to shell out 400 quid then chop bits of it if it wont fit the ecu. i plan on using a new 2.0 Lt zetec black top engine if that's any help. cheers
  12. cheers chaps i have ordered a new cv joint for the damaged one so i think i will just re pack the others with grease. thank for the advise.
  13. Hi all, I have just got myself a 3.6 diff Lobro type LSD (i think) and drive shafts of a K plate 2.0L sapphire from a local scrappy. I have striped the shafts down as i want to put new cv joints on, as one was damaged i am going to replace them all, inner's and outer's just to be on the safe side. Can anybody tell me, are these the same item as i can only find outer cv joint from a company call J&R at 20 earth pound each, which i thought was no a bad price. When i striped these units down the look identical but not sure if they are or not. Also i have noticed that that one of the drive shafts is longer than the other by an inch or so and has 2 additional cir-clips located about 2 inches down the splien does anybody know if the other side should have these cir-clips on them or if it is a different type that has been replaced at some point, and if not, and this is right which side goes where as i didn't take note of which side was which (lesson learnt). Thanks
  14. Cheers mower man i did try this and being a bit stupid i did not use a high tensile bolt and nearly lost my knuckles. lesson learnt doh. got my self a new tool cheap setting tool and its done the perfect job and knuckles still in one piece and got my self a new tool to play with which is always good.
  15. gone and got my self a setting tool on ebay £9.46 inc next day posting and a selection of nuts for a silverline jobby . your right top bit of kit albeit a cheap one.now my scuttle is nicely secure and have got many more things i plan to use it for. Cheer all
  16. Cheers Dave liking the build blog looking very impressive especially with the sat nav install
  17. Hi I am considering buying a GRP dash board from GBS. looking at various peoples picture on peoples blogs it looks like you utilise one of the inner or outer dash panels supplied with the kit. I believe that this needs to be cut but not sure by how much, and which one, i am tipping it will be the inner panel. could somebody point me in the right direction before i go and butcher the wrong panel to death with my new air nibblers which i cant wait to use. Also could any advise on the fixing the scuttle would be appreciated, i am considering using rivet nuts but don't want to fork out loads on a new setting tool only for 6 nuts, is there an alternative to fixing them in place without a setting tool. Thanks neil
  18. Hi all could anybody point me in the right direction with regards to steering columns. I bought a gbs zero kit and am just about to start on the steering and wondered where the best place to source a new column or reconditioned unit from as i want to get a new reg plate when complete. my understanding is that you are only allowed one item classed as reconditioned to a be able to gain a new reg as i want to use this for my transition and have been finding it difficult to source a new steering column. where can i source a new one from? as i don't think they are available any more from ford. or am i just being thick and looking in the wrong places
  19. Cheers Spencer sounds like a winner to me I will get on kit spares and order one of them I think
  20. I think I will stick with the a normal fan thanks for the advice
  21. Ah I see makes more sense now thanks
  22. Hi As a new zero builder i am bit confused to which fan is best for my zero build, a 10 inch push fan or a 12 inch reversable fan. I take it that a push fan sits in front of the radiator and draws air across tha radiator coils but what is a reversable fan? can this be used as a push/pull fan depending on requirements or am i just being a bit silly and missing something? which is the best set up for this build? Also does the size of the fan depend on the size of the radiator: bigger radiator = bigger fan and will i need to upgrade the alternator to cope with the extra current being drawn if i went down this route or will this be minimal in comparison to the smaller fan?
