  9. thanks fopr all the complements folks. appols for now responding sooner but been crying into my cup of tea after getting it MOt'd and taxed I took it out for a quick run to get the exhaust fitted. The car has developed a little engine problem.... blowing bubbles out of the coolant!! diagnosis... terminal head gasket :-( To do a head gasket on one of these is a bugger due to the location of the engine. Looking at the costs of gaskets, head bolts plus head reskim / rebuild and the prospect of having to take the engine out, the most economical route is to drop a replacement engine in!! Engine has been sourced from woodsport, who had luckily just taken one out to do a v6 conversion with 60k miles on and comes with a 6 month warranty. It arrives tomorrow morning and have been gathering all the bits and bobs i need, including new clutch to complete the engine swap next week. All being well, should be up and running again by next weekend for now it's out with the spanners !! cheers Chris

  13. hi folks got the car back from the paint shop last weekend :D it did hurt a little handing over the pennies, :shok: but the shine on the car is amazing so well pleased!! :good: the car had a full send off with the guys who work there, plus their families all turning up to see it go Once on the trailer, it was a smooth drive home thankfully First job completed was to get it onto it's proper wheels next instalment should be front lights, bumpers and grille just need to get some time off from the 3 w's Work... Weather.... Wife!!!
  14. Hi Folks went up to see the car just before xmas and it was in the paint booth the guys where giving it the last coat of lacquer as i arrived. As it's fiberglass, they only took the oven up to 30 deg so it didn't affect the body. it's had 3 coats of ferrari corsa rosso 300 paint, topped off with 4 coats of lacquer to give it the depth It's was then left to stand in the booth until they came back from their xmas break to allow the paint to fully cure before flatting and polishing the pictures taken in the booth don't give a true colour due to the high lighting in there is v bright!!
  15. Richards correct Need special narrower seals as the inner spring interferes with the stem seal if you fit standards Give burton a call and they will be able to supply the correct ones Hth
  16. been up to check on progress of the car the high build primer has been flastted and the stone chip paint has been applied to the bottom of the sills the bonnet / boot are flatted ready for top coat the body is ready for primer looking less likely that the paint job will be completed by the end of next week ;-( .... but would rather have a quality job than rushing it at this stage on the flip side, i've been having a steady stream of parcels arriving all new customer carpet set new momo prototipo steering wheel Custom exhaust is due any day I've also finished covering the targa tops in vynal wrap. I'd managerd to locate a company that supply it in a leather finish!! relatively easy to put on once i got my head round how stretchy this stuff can be when heated and the finished result is really good!!
  17. Hi All been up to see how the body shop have been getting on with my dino the doors, bonnet, boot and engine cover are all now in primer with their guide coat for the final rub down before painting the body is still in poly and they have just started blocking down. feeling the pannels there is a major improvement from where i had them aiming for the whole car ready for top coat by the end of next week !!

  21. Hi Stewart please add me to the list A little short of whit, put always very greatful cheers Chris
  22. colour i've gone for is ..... corsa rosso red gone to autoworks in Consett, so just round the corner to starforth the guys there have had lots of experience with restorations, working on some of the cars featured in heartbet and have also worked on a few fibreglass cars, including a Jenson CV8, so loads of experience and keen as mustard to get going will keep adding photo's as it progresses cheers C
