  2. Hi Steve, thanks for that - it seems my memory's not what it was :-) are you back on the road again - hope so. paul ps. I bet their cheque bounced for the ad!
  3. during our cars extended holiday in Cradely Heath we had hoped to get a hood fitted, not least because the type of fitment used by them at the windscreen end avoided the need for towels on the dash to catch all the pouring water running over the top between the press studs. We are going to have to find another maker, but wondered if anyone had the jigtec type fitment on the windscreen, since we'll probably have the make the fittings ourselves. I think it consisted of a piece of channel in the hood which fitted inside a corrssponding piece on the screen, to give a watertight fit. Does anyone have any pictures/drawings etc of one, or has anyone in the midlands got one we can have a look at? :-) Cheers Paul

    Only In England

I really hope theyre true. Us brits have a long tradition of laughing in the face of adversity, and any group of people that can cope with the rush hour on the underground every day - and manage a laugh, deserve to still have an empire! paul

kitten based? should have thought of that with it being so small. is it an early tempest? they used to make classic style kit cars based on kittens, and theyve just been relaunched. theres also liege, but dont know owt about them. its certainly a puzzle. paul

    A Bit Of Fun.

it looks like an ulster thats had a foot chopped of behind the seats. i think the ulster had a longer tail, the silver cars tail doesnt protrude much beyond the back wheels http://www.classic-austin-morris.oldclassi...in_7_ulster.htm paul

    Flat-spot

redex is great. not sure it solved the problems we had at one time with an old metro (in the latter stages of terminal decline) but pouring redex straight into the carb while on the night shift and watching the flames leap up into the night in the works car park was very entertaining! paul
  14. the MOT test doesnt require a working speedo, aoccrding to our local tester. all they do is read the mileage. paul

    Seatbelt Problem

This things been bugging me all day! I even joined a disability forum and posted in the motoring section! A reply on the board suggested trying Halfrauds, to see what they do, but you've probably done this already. But there might be a way to solve the problem, in true hoody fashion. Its a bit Heath Robinson, but i cant see why it shouldnt work. Get a rip tie, and fasten it around the belt, just after the pointed end of the belt, tighten it just enough so that it doesnt crease the belt, but so that it wont slide over the end of the belt. then attach another (longer rip tie) to the first one. add a hook of some sort to this rip tie and you should be able to hook this onto the grab handle above the door (assuming a corse has one) this should mean that the belt is level with the middle of the door when its needed, and could be replaced once your relative is ready to get out of the car. what do you think? paul you can have a look at the thread here.

    Seatbelt Problem

i know what you mean (i think barry) the ones i'm thinking of were black plastic and slid onto the belt at the top between the top fixing, and the end of the belt that fastens into the socket. paul
  23. I agree Bill, it was a really good day, well done to our organising members (Chris & Christine) nice to say hello to everyone as well. I didnt know galas like that still happened. (we even had a satellite link up to the celebrity so he could declare the gala open from overseas!) the convoy through the village is a good idea too, four hoods, followed by all sorts of kits (the 2cv club brought more than us!) and classics, loads of bikes from the local MCC, and some very nice cars from the local museum. the weather kept dry too, till we were back in the car on the way home, luckily we found somewhere to hide till it blew over. we were both really pleased to be involved in it. thanks too to Mick for doing his ringmaster introductions for us all, next time we'll get some stirring music to enter the ring to! next year maybe we could round up some more hoods, stay over and go for a paddle at skeggy the day after the gala. paul ps did another hood arrive just as we were leaving? (about 4 ish)
  24. I saw the trade in Volvo thing too. Maybe a good bet would be to call the types of large car places in your area that do offers like £1000 minimum trade ins, "even if it doesnt have an MOT" they must have somewhere that they offload the trade in cars to on a regular basis. Our local car supermarket sells all of its to a little place just across the road. I'm sure the supermarkets would tell you if you asked them.

    Well This Is A First!

#5 puzzles me, i drove several escort vans with work, and being quite tall, i could feel this in every one of them. in fact if you tried hard enough in one of them you could almost steer with your left foot! (only in the car park though ) No one's going to fail uncle henry though are they? why does the SVA have to be to higher standards than regular cars?
