  1. The Diesel engine in the Ford Kuga is a Peugeot unit. Service time about 2 hours for the whole car

A 27mm socket and a long extension bar will get the filter housing undone. To get the old filter and housing out from the engine bay you need to remove the large

intercooler intake pipe off then push it out of the way to one side. Something to remember for the next time Bob ;)

  2. I would start by stripping the door card off and the rubber film behind it (can be very sticky and messy to remove).

Once you have access to the window regulator motor check all the wiring from the motor back the door multi plug on the A pillar to see if there is any cut/ breaks. Also plug the switch back into the loom and see if there is any sound coming from the motor, if there is a sound going both up & down it may just be the case of a stuck armature. So give it a gentle tap with a small hammer (not caveman style with a club lol) with the switch in the down position and see if you have any movement.

If no joy than as Nigel said the car needs to be plugged into Ford IDS to see where the problem lies.

If your talking about the interior light playing up:? There is no separate switch as the switch is built into the door lock itself. Is it only doing this when the passenger door is open? Check the loom from the lock to the door plug but more likely to be a short in the door loom.

  3. 2011 Ford Focus has cables for gear linkage so it may be that the locking ring on one of them at the gearbox end has come

loose or the cable has worn in the inner lining known fault, ( changed loads of them.)

Remove the air box from the car by removing the intake pipe from the air filter undo the rubber ring at the front by the

slam panel (if fitted) and the air box should just pull out of its mountings.

You should have room to the see around to the back of the gearbox to the cables and control arms and check if the outer cables are locked into there mounting brackets.

If all is ok with this then it may be the gear lever remote itself or a problem within the gearbox.

  4. A puller is the way to go to remove the pulley. Had a friend of mine try to remove the pulley off his engine to change the oil

seal with a couple of pry bars and ended up cracking the cast aluminium timing cover.

Then after the pulley was removed left me with the pig of a job getting the cam belt bottom sprocket off to change the cover lots of heat and a few choice words.

Top tip once you have the pulley off give the end of the crank shaft a light coat of copper grease, as it will help the next time you need to remove it to change the cam belt ;)

  5. If it had been an IVECO the cab would have come off as well with all the Italian rust. Glad I don't have to work on them

    things any more.

If I had a pound for every set of door hinges I changed I would have my own Island in the sun
