Engine Number

What a plank, i have put the engine in and have not writen down the engine number, and it is painted over heavily. Will the SVA inspector need to see it or will he just see its a Pinto?

Its not an engine out, just bl**dy awkward.

Can't remember the SVA inspector being overly interested in the engine number on mine. He may have had a cursory glance at it, I guess it depends what information you're relying on to get the right emissions test. BUT the DVLA inspector will definately want to see it when you go to register the car, so it'll have to be legible for that.

Build up inspection will need to read it , just scrape the the paint off and it wiill

leave the number in paint. then repaint ater

My sva inspector checked my documents to verify the engines (confirmation from Haynes) age and then checked the engine number to what was on the block. Maybe different at other places?? Def needed to see it for the build up inspection though.

I remember checking mine (allthough I can't recall how many digits there were).

The majority of the digits checked out OK, but I can't read the first few digits - They're too feint.

Do I have an issue here then?

you will trying to get a hammer and a stamp in there to re do it,

 

if in doubt..........better safe than sorry.other wise, at SVA they MAY ask you to prove the age of the engine

Thats a job for tommorow then, now where exactly should i be looking, is it right hand side rear of block?

I don't want to scrape off loads of paint.

Right hand side front between engine mount holes and alternater holes on a raised flat area.

first two should be letters
