Whats the best way of attaching it? small weld??

Having had a tube that was a slack fit I messed around for some time trying to get a good fit by belling the end out (unsuccessfully) then struck on the idea of tinning the bit that goes into the block (you must get the tube very clean first I used MEK) then when it is tapped back into the block the solder gives a good tight fit.

Old lead containing solders melted at just below 200C and the modern lead free ones at a little above. If your block is reaching 200C you will have already boiled off all the coolant, warped the head, seized the engine and yes to top it all the dipstick tube then falls out. :crazy:

Could of explained why my big end shells had melted!!! or just a tad lack of oil?! :unknw: :D Oh welll new block in, will solder the tube tonight - if only i thought of this earlier! - and hey presto - still wont work cause ill still need to put the head on!!
