Top Balljoint Lock Nut

Recommended Posts

I have put on new top ball joints and covered them neatly with some plastic covers from Tifosi, however the covers won't go over the lock nut where it locks on the top wishbone.

As you have to take the mushroom adaptor out to turn them over, do i need a lock nut for the sva?

I had a fail on these nuts so i covered them with squash balls :D cut cut 2 holes one in each side that matched the diameter of the wishbone tube and balljoint then slit them so i could wrap them round and just put loads of silicone inside to stick them on. hope that helps

The top ball joint cannot rotate in the wishbone, BUT if you don't use a locknut the threaded parts can vibrate and this could lead to the thread stripping (most probably in the wishbone - Sod's Law etc.)
