Daughters boy friend has one that has developed strange fault, when turned on the engine light has been taking longer and longer to come on and it won't start until it does, sometimes 1/2 an hour or not at all: any ideas?

its probably best it has a fault, the last thing you want is to turn on your daughters boyfriend

May be a faulty solenoid

John you may have been right? the garage had told him there wasn't a fault (just wouldn't start?) took out the engine circuit relay, contacts looked ok, gave it a squirt of cleaner and has been fine for 2 weeks. Expect it will stop now!
