Car Tax

Hi All,

My 2B is currently on SORN and I want to get a Tax Disc to run from 01/04/10

Has anyone manged to get a pre-dated tax Disc on-line, or am I going to have to get in the queue at the Post Office on the hallowed day?

The only option I get online, is for the Tax to be valid for this current month onwards and I'm beggared if I'm going to give our nice government a penny more than I have to.

Also, is it going up to £205 for 12 months, as of 01/04/10?

TIA

Hi Steve

Not sure if you can get one early but if you tax on line you get an email receipt to prove you have taxed it and the computer at DVLA updates when your app. is received so ANPR camers won't be a problem to you so you should be OK.

I am in the same boat as you 1/4/10 from SORN. Ididn't realize it was going up though. :o so thats 5 @ £205  :80: might have to put my prices up :o

Hi Steve,

Taxed mine this month after being on SORN for the winter. Had exactly the same issue as I was going to tax last weekend of February for tax to run from March, however could not do it. Had to wait 1st March before it let me tax for March. :unknw:

I think the only way you can do this is to join the que at the local postie...

Once you have purchased your tax online you are allowed to drive around for 5 days legally without it on display in the windscreen. This is obviously to allow for the post. But it is only when you have paid for it as I said. The ANPR should be right up to date.

Just taxed mine.. I wanted to do it online but had to get insurance the same day and the insurance company told me it would take 2 weeks to register so I had to wait a day for the cover note then join the queue. Mind you insurance for £85 fully comp made it all worth it. :D

Hi ,no my car is a 2ltr

Make sure the insurance company put YOUR policy on the official website. This is the one the Police check against the ANPR system. I checked the website a few months ago and found my policy did not exist! Everything is now in place.

If I can find the site I'll post the LINK.
