Simon,

Without being rude, You would use a 2l blacktop mondeo cambelt,

you may need a registration to get the correct one, My advice would be to go onto ebay and search for 1998 onwards 2.0 mondeo, And then use the reg number at a spares shop to get the right one,

Hope that helps

Dave

Thanks Dinger,

Kept searching and found one at burton power so all good.

Thanks

Hi

Are you keeping the serpentine configuration or changing to the conventional triangle belts, (needs a water pump change to fiesta?).

I  my :rhsc:

I've just changed a Silvertop and gone for a Escort Silvertop pump to have a simple triangular arrangement. That way I just need to make a bracket up off the alternator that can be adjusted in the same way as a Pinto.

If you go serpentine, then you will need idle pulleys but can fit a self adjuster.

Thanks all.

Relooked today and plan to put an idler to the right of the engine so as to get the water pump spinning the other way. If someone has done this is there a belt that you would recommend to fit? Going to make it adjustable but would be good to get before doing the job.

Thanks

Simon

Thanks Nigel

Planning to fit it over a few days so nice to know Halfords do some i can select from without a wait :D

Obviously with only a ew days to fit I am trying to ensure everything is ready and ready to slot in, so any comments on the below is welcome ;)

Ok, from fitting upwards as i see it, please commet if it all sounds wrong as a amatuer at this.

2l Blacktop zetec

Cut chassis towards back of engine bay to allow propshaft to fit and thus allowing the standard water housing to still be used reducing the need for a water rail

Cut and brace bottom chassis by engine mounts so sump fits (sump already shortened)

1.8 zetec flywheel and 2l pinto clutch - Do I need to redrill?? or will it go on ok?

New realease bearing and spigot bearing

Hopefully that is it for the general fitting....now

New GBS Zero pedal box... i prsume this moves the standard servo? or do i need to buy another?

Shortened oil filter, new lrs707 starter motor, alternator...which one??

Megajolt of squirt ecu..... which, i am thinking squirt.

I was going down the route of throttle boddies but I am planning to do this next week so time running out to buy, these loot the best bet and i think will fit??

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Although then i presume a fuel pump etc is needed so presume carbs is easier, in which case which of the below??

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WEBER-45-DCOE-152G-P...=item2305db1e9d

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Weber-45-Dcoe-Zetec-...=item5191a059f1

As well as carbs i presume i would need an inlet manifold?

Any advice on the above would be great as time is a big factor on trying to get this running!!

Thanks

Simon

As well as carbs i presume i would need an inlet manfold?

Pinto clutch to 1.8 zetec flywheel. Flywheel needs to be accurately drilled for the 3 locating dowels and six holes drilled and tapped for the bolts and ideally balanced with the pressure plate after. CCT132 release bearing. You can use 1.8 zetec clutch and CCT133 release bearing.

Alternator.........try the scrapyards for a small Nippon Denso alternator, suzuki swift, bedford rascal, charade, micra etc.

The throttlebodies on ST170 manifold look complete and include injectors and blacktop fuel rail. Would fit and work well with megasquirt.

Megajolt and 45's would also be fine but many now use bike carbs which can be set up to work at least as well as the 45's, cost peanuts and are stable once set. Any of the specialists such as fast ford for a 45 type manifold but Bogg Brothers will do one for bike carbs and jet them for you.

If fitting injection then a swirlpot with lifter pump, high pressure pump and filters would be needed. Also need an oil breather and catch tank.

Thanks Andy/Nigel

After much deliberating I think bike carbs are the way forward as the throttle boddies were looking expensive.

Can't really see any manifolds/carbs already set up so will keep looking, but in the meantime am going to get the megajolt ecu. Do i need to go TPS or MAP version??

MAP seems ok but thought it worth checking

They seam to be selling kits wirth some bits should get with an engine (Refurbished EDIS Ignition module )

These still need wiring up and programing.

I would go for injection I dont think carbs will go throught IVA test

Some rolling roads will not touch mega squart ecu's.

Webber do a bolt on kit ready to drive not cheap but poss the best out there
