Brake Light Switch On Super Spec

Guest Jan

Recommended Posts

Just checking hood out before MOT, the brake light switch is intermittent, I just went down to my local car shop and the guy said "I have never ever seen one like that in my life" and I know he's had a car shop here for as long as I have been driving nearly 40 years. Anyway I digress, what I need to know is where I can get one and is it realy a brake switch as it makes when pushed in not when released. The number on the switch is 94 FG19L538AA and the only clue is it says FORD D3LOA. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers all Jan

I take it you are talking about the switch on the handbrake. Not needed as such. It is simply a way to test the low brake fluid circuit from the drivers seat. You can loose it and replace with any switch that allows you to switch that wire to earth, thus testing the circuit on demand.

Or try the scrappy. Or 94 FG19L538AA is a Ford part number so try your local ford dealer.

If it's on the hand-brake -- any door/curtesy? switch will do; with a Hoody bracket of coarse!!!

Thanks Guys, No its the foot brake switch, I had it appart and the contacts have shown signs of burning, I tried to file them down but not much luck.

I went back to the shop and bought a switch but made up a bracket to fit on the other side of the pedal and all works fine now, thanks for the comments though. Cheers :good:

My superspec brake light kept sticking. I nearly couldn't return home from the IVA test as the brake lights wouldn't come on. Luckily the examiner had a can of WD40 which managed to improve it a little.

Got home and took the switch apart. Did a bit of fileing and it works fine now.

Glad you've got yours sorted.

Hi, If it's the standard sierra switch, then I got a spare from an escort mk5/6. I got it from a scrapyard during the build due to losing the original one. If would probably take hours to find out if I still have it though.
