well the 205 block is the later 2ltr block but i believe there is a high and low comp version as my dads transit has the 205 block pinto in it. don't know how you tell the difference.

If you can see the inlet ports on the head and they are egg shaped then that is an injection head if they are round then it is for a carb engine. You'll get better gas flow with the inj head.

all pintos after 89 are unleaded.

It helps if i read the magazine article :clapping:

On my v5 the last 2 letters of the vin number is LT which makes it a april 1990 car but the v5 says first registered august 1990

but the engine number recorded on v5 says Fe 39255 which would mean it's year is actually dec 1985

think i will spaeak to chap i brought it from as ithought he said he had updated engine on v5 but maybe he meant i need to.

Why are things made so complicated. :search:

This may be useful, might be the same as the catalogue link

High or low compression is determined by the pistons fitted not the block.

High comp pistons are level with the top deck of the block at TDC

Low comp pistons are about 1.5mm down.

Easy to see if head is off

A compression test can be a guide, somewhere around 170 psi for high compression.

Figures are quoted in Haynes manual for expected pressure in all the compression variants.

High compression engine has pistons 0.5 mm below block deck ( some like mine were measured at .0.381)

Low compression 1.5 and a rrare US spec 1 mm.

Burton performance do a 1 mm gasket this adds 0.5 to your compression ratio.

Reinze do a 1.3 mm gasket, the standard older gasket is 1.6 mm
