Wheel Choice

Hi everybody

I currently have an S7 running sierra gear, at the moment it has the old 13" ford rs alloys (4spoke) which I like but I am thinking of changing them for some minilite style wheels,

Before I jump in and buy anything I was wondering if I could have some pointers in terms of dos and donts, fitments, recommendations etc

Thanks in advance

don't buy 14" wheels, the choice in tyres is awful, all cheap and no grip. 15" is best.

However i have some 14" robin hood (turbo) alloys for sale.........

Great thanks for the pointers, the fit in the arches is perfect as it is so really just wondering if minilites would go straight on without changing the hubs/spacing etc, the compomotive ones I like seem to have a deeper rim so not sure if they are going to stick out further!? Are all wheels fixing points in the same position relative to the width? IE do some sit further out than others?

The compomotive ones look nice although by the looks if things I will be looking at around £1k by the time they are tyred up and balanced!

Was hoping for around £500-£600 all in,

Probably will have to look out for 15" minilites on the 2nd hand market

Thanks for all the pointers so far!

mine were second hand. so affordable.

Some wheels stick out further or less than others, this is the offset. usually marked on the wheel as an 'et'

this is the distance from the mounting face to the center line.

Great thanks a lot, I'd like to stick with the same offset as it is perfect with the arches,

Does anybody know what offset the 13" ford rs 4spokes are or do they vary?

Cheers

have a look at the wheel and it will normally be embossed in the alloy somewhere. 38ET seemed to be about standard for the sierra but the 13inch ones are off a capri or escort aren't they so might be different for the live axle cars.

Ok will do, thanks a lot, I've seen these on eBay which I like the look of, I'm away at the mo but I guess it's just a case of making sure I get exactly the same dimensions as the current ones to save a lot of grief!

ET -7 which those are would stick out massively on a hood. I have ET5 on mine and even they stick out so 12mm more I'd guess at them sticking out of the arches about 20-25mm.

If your wheels sit 'flush' with the rear arches I'd guess you are running about et15 to et20
