Now we know the real reason he's called steamer!

Hope removing the silicone meant the hose stayed on all the way home.

Rob try and organise one with more sun next time please :)

Just got home, steady drizzle from Derby to Burton but no great worries. Good to meet many of you for the first time this morning and thanks to Rob for organising and look forward to the next run out.

Ps Jack (my son) fell to sleep on the way home, 70 mph in drizzle and he falls to sleep!!!

Yep Steamer by Name and Steamer by nature....

Hope you got back ok Rich?

Started out to be a cracking day. Great turnout. 9 cars on some fantastic roads. Great Bacon butties en route also...

Then the problems...Rich's car decided to blow a hose (several times), then some oik on a push bike :aggressive: going silly speed's skids to avoid hitting a car and crashes into my parked car.... :aggressive: .New front wing required, gutted. Got his details, just hope he pays up...Wing already on order.

Quick video of Me following Dan and Rob. If you listen carefully you can hear Rich's monster V8 behind me.. :clapping:

Day was topped off, by us lot gate crashing the Lotus owners club at Chatsworth house....a few noses were put out when our cars seemed to be getting a tad more attention.

Topped off by a great run back. :db: :db:

Definately have to organise another run soon.

Oh and for those of you who wanted details of my car cam: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Full-HD-1920x1080P-Car-Dash-DVR-Video-Car-Vehicle-Camera-Cam-Recorder-DVR-Camera-/170942384570?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item27ccf5c9ba. Not too bad for £30,, 8)

Think we managed 40 out of the 150 miles planned. Is it the marines that never leave a man behind or RHOCAR? The way it should be. Will try and arrange run mk2 when the weather picks up again. And I'll post the pics of our cars parked in front of the lotus owners club stand later!

Some nice piccies Rob.

IanK has also caught the scroat on the mountain bike on Video. So hopefully have a shot of him on camera bouncing off my front wing.....nothing like a bit of evidence.

Just had it confirmed by Mike at Roadrunner, new front wing being sent out tomorrow. Thats what I call good customer service :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

A really big thanks to everyone today who helped me out when one of my radiator hoses blew off!

The story for those who weren't there.....my hose slipped off from underneath the jubilee slip with the help of the silicon sealant acting as a lubricant which I'd used to help seal the hose.

Lesson learnt....silicon hoses don't need silicon sealant to help seal....it actually makes the hose more likely to slip off...even though the silicon was fully cured!!

Anyway, we got the hose back on at the roadside and with everyone's bottles of water, got the engine filled back up, but after a few minutes of driving (we'd pulled over to wait for terry to finish battering the cyclist) it looked like the hose wasn't going to last long before popping off again.

So on that note, Dan and Keith very kindly shot off to get dans tin-top and pick up my trailer to come and recover the kit.

Meanwhile, i nursed the car to the chatsworth lotus show and 30seconds after parking up, the hose blew off again.

Once the car had cooled, and with tim's help, we scraped all of the silicon out of the hose and put it back on. This time it fit really well and we decided to put dan and Keith on trailer standby whilst I atempted made my way home with a rhocar escort (cheers guys).

It made it home without any stops and when i arrived the hose hadn't shown any signs of slipping off again!!

So, I'm now going to sort out all my other hoses in the engine bay as they have all been installed using silicon sealant.

Sorry for letting the side down today! I'm gutted we didn't get to do robs full route and I'm also gutted that Terry's car got damaged whilst attending my roadside!!! :(

We can try again soon. Earlier start to avoid mountain bikers with no road sense. Not that all mountain bikers have no road sense.

At least we saved money on fuel today :-)

Good turn out today though!

I think I need a new sender unit for my temperature gauge. Dial said 95 degrees, infra red thermometer said 74 at the top of the rad and 54 at the bottom!

what make gauge someone else with the same could take a cold ohms reading to compare to see if yours is out of tolerance.
