Pinto Or Zetec

What Engine do people prefer Pinto or Zetec this is my Pinto

How longs a piece of string?

Pinto is older and heavy but cheap to tune

Zetec can make more power for similar cash

Exhaust and inlet are on opposite sides

You'll need an ECU for the Zetec

and there opens the can of worms.

If the pintos already in the effort and expense to fit a zetec aint cheap plus filling holes from exhausts routes etc adds up.

but if you want one, go get one..i just love old skool engines and the noises they make.

with all the hassle I am having it would have been easier to stick with pinto but I cant wait to get the zetec in and running going to have to move crossmember to get zetec in mines a 2b with type9 gearbox

Down to personal choice, the next debate will be on the fuel system, bike carbs, standard, injection, twin 40s it never stops.

 

I have a xflow and with twin 40 dellortos and yes occasionally I would like more power, but very rarely it was not built to race. But the sound is great. Why do you want to upgrade?

Just wondering why everyone is going for a zetec are the better I have been offered a cosworth engine

Pinto for the sound, vibration, aggression, experience, involvement, character and fun. And they can be made quick enough. The zetecs are so uninvolving and characterless. Yes much more power but dull.

Staying with the pinto it is then I have twin 40s and adjustable cam pulley and a fast road cam might lighten the fly wheel next easy gain I think any more ideas

some people say bike carbs are better than twin 40s maybe an upgrade there but not cheap.

lighter fly is easy to do,it will spin up quicker but will feel less torquey

Injection head worth 5 to 10bhp

Thinner gasket helps as is a light skim say 1mm off the head
