if so mate go to Andy Weston at Cylinder Head Developments in Birmingham he specialises in fords he has done 3 blacktop heads for me over the years he got me the newman cams at trade too witch he shimmed for me as he has a massive assorted box full of shims. he charges £395 for porting/gas flowing, matching/equalise combustion chamber and polish + head skim.

Dont worry about peak power, worry about the GAINs.

remember: The difference between a tuner and a 'typer', is one knows how to read an improvement, and the other knows how to point out the power figure...

Anynone running an ST170 on stock cams without correct VVT control loses around 20% top end power, and suffers torque through the mid range, this system alleviates that problem for under £250, a lot cheaper than a set of VVT delete cams...

Matt, you don't seem to be responding to the various questions raised. This is supposed to be a two way thing. We are all a bit in the dark as to the potential that your kit offers. You have shown that it has control over VVT. I would expect with proper mapping (cam increments of 2 degrees max) and injection (hard to believe the carbs are accurate enough for the VVT all through the rev range, cam variations and load changes) you should be able to make a bigger difference compared to the conservative/emissions influenced lower end Ford must have programmed in to their ECU. At the most basic I would have thought you would be doing your runs against a ford set-up, not the partly discredited full retard switching to full advance run you keep showing.

You haven't confirmed what cam angle increments your device can control. Perhaps you have broken the news a little early before you have sufficient data to show the real potential/results.

For an extra 20%? You should see 195+ on an ST with this setup (and injection, Jenveies etc) which to get from a Blacktop you need £500 worth of cams :)

Hi Nigel,

The first post should show what I have done, for example, I say how we have ran the same curve we extracted from the OEM car (which is documented in first post)

I agree though, once I get it on throttle bodied engine with management and some time on the rollers with it I should be able to give some more 'potential' gains' The inital 'plug and play' gains are impressive enough though, I must admit!

If you have anymore questions, fire them over :)

The offer stands:

Anyone out there with the following:

1. An ST170 on Jenvies, running either an Omex or a Megasquirt running 'switch on cam' method and getting good power (or what they think is good laugh.gif )

2. Willing to come down to M-Tech in westbury

Gets free trial run of me clicking this system on, and mapping their ECU to suit it, then they can either buy the system or I can remove it and load the map they arrived on...

Good comparison, and demo'd right in front of them laugh.gif
