Cooling Problems

this is my belt run and is correct but water will not flow through rad

this is the empelor rotation which to me looks wrong its rotating the way finger pointing

I have had to take thermostat out to get circulation

the hose from pump goes to bottom of rad

my thermostat is at the back here

the water rail gets hot after thermostat so that to me is opening the heat continues to top of rad but will not go any further

Well, I will go ahead and drill a hole in the thermostat. As the thermostat is not opened at cold temperature you will not get any flow in the system. You need to have a bypass on the thermostat to the allow a minimum amount of flow when the engine is cold

If it's spinning that way how will it be scooping the water? Maybe I'm wrong.

that's what concerns me but every body ive spoke to said that is correct rotation

Have you got the water pump inlet connected to the top of the rad in the first pic? Should be at the bottom or its not going to get any water to pump.

 

Like he said bottem of rad goes to water pump

that's wot I thought but I bleed the thermo housing and bleed at fan switch on top of water rail

The joys of water rails. The zetec pump sucks water back from the rad, pushes it through the block and out the back of the head. The bulb/waxstat must stick into this hot water and fresh hot water must reach it by establishing flow, either with a bypass hose draining the chamber it is in or as a last resort a hole through the stat allowing water to enter. I sold on my raceline rail unfitted because I didn't like the design.

I think will go with drilling some holes in thermostat as cma suggested as there is no bypass

that's just a poor design, it looks like the stat goes in arse about face and the bulb isn't getting any hot water to it. The temp sender will suffer the same too.

If the bulb doesn't receive enough heat it can't open, hence the coolant not flowing.

Drilling holes may help, but you really need to bypass the stat to establish flow and heat to the bulb side of it.
