You'll need a vent/filter somewhere or crank pressure builds in the catch tank then blows something off

i fitted a catch tank to my efi after modding the inlet hose my tank has 2 top tubes on the top ,1 from rocker box the other goes to a mini vent filter

To catch oil mist so the 2 vents do not just spray oil mist all over the shop as they are no longer attached to the inlet as they were in the original installation

 

agree, venting has to be changed, and oil coming out of your engine will cause a mess.

 

just thinking back before "emissions", long time ago so many may not remember, engines vented to atmosphere, no tank.

 

So are we saying that the modern engine emits oil?

 

OR

 

Something is causing it to emit oil, the tank gets around the need to do anything about it?

modern engines do , but they have recirculation systems they push it back into the inlet manifold iirc
