You could spend a fortune tuning a pinto all depends how far you want to go and deep your pockets are. Power cost £££. Having had pinto, v8, r1 and zetec i prefer the zetec. If you were to add up all the raceline parts, webers, exhaust and ignition mine is over 3k under the bonnet, the engine was the cheap bit.

The only other consideration is it is probably cheaper to buy a car already upgraded i.e ians 2b with 16v Toyota. .. just my opinions

Can be done much cheaper than £2000.

Blacktop Engine -£200 -300

Gbs plenum manifold - £250 - one for sale now on locust builders for £150

Standard ford ecu

Startermotor - £50

Alternator and bracket - £100 less if you can make brackets yourself

Sump - £100. few for sale on the bay at the moment

Engine mount - make yours £50 materials

Spigot bearing - £10

exhaust manifold - £175. A bit less shopping on the bay.

Water rail - make yours

Pedal box if needed. Make yours. Get your pen and paper out, sketch and send to laser cutters

Still can't make my mind up on this 2.0 pinto on bike carbs or zetec as a winter change as my 1.8 pinto on Weber 32/36 just not right don't know why gonna let mower man set up and see if any better but just want more drivability etc

Zetec win hands down on drivability alone..smaller valves equals faster air intake speeds which is all good.

You will not regret changing from a pinto to a 1.8/2.0 silver or blacktop.

don't go the 1.6 route tho.waste of time

all in my opinion
