Hi,

noticed GFs rear light on the one side looked like only half was on compared to the other side. Are there 2 bulbs for the normal lights in each side?

Its just a normal vw polo 2006 with this type of light fitting i think http://www.history-of-cars.com/images/vw/2006-polo-blue-motion-4door-hatchback-12.jpg(not actual car just googled)

I could obviously have a look next time her car is here but i'll get more brownie points if i turn up with the correct bulb ready to fit ;)

If its anything like my wife's Seat then a one filament bulb does both stop and tail. It confused me when I first cam across it. The clue was that both the stop and tail failed at the same time. The bulb is "dimmed" when the side lights are on but on "full power" for braking HTH

Look at the old build to see how many contacts it has on its butt.

All side light will be between 4 and 6 watts.

Indicators and brake lights around the most common 21 watts.

This would be the same if you have a 6, 12, or 24 volt system.

Unless as above where they use two systems through the same unit.

Then you need the higher 21 wattage bulb.

Easiest way to be sure is to look at the same possition bulb on the other side.

HTH Ken.
