Flame from the exhaust when starting suggests neat fuel is ending up

in the exhaust system. That could be duff plugs or poor/weak ignition.

Pinto plugs are cheap enough to try them first. Check for a fat healthy spark

from a plug held against the cylinder head....carefully!

Rubber gloves/shoes/insulated pliers are recommended.

In the ngk range should be ap6fs or similar. The number is the heat rating and is the important bit in this situation. If it's a higher number, it could cause poor cold starting.

just ordered some accuspark af7c triple ground plugs.ill try them first. cheers

My old pinto bike carb set up would not start at all from cold if I even thought about touching the accelerator.

Just full choke only (or fuel enrichment as the bikeys like to say)..

They can be very choosy on starting.
