Misting Gauges

After recently fitting a set of electronic gauges to my 2B I have noticed when taking the car out in the autumn sunshine that they mist up slightly inside the glass. Has anyone else had this problem and found a cure, I have thought about inserting small sachets of silica gel through the grommets where the dip switches are, but am weary of shorting out the delicate electronics?

When first installed our Flight gauges sometimes misted -- settled clear at all times after a few months without any action -- other than cursing. Silica gel will only work once if air is changing in gauge then the gel will need removing & cooking dry again.

Back in the old days instruments had tungsten filament lamps so there was a little heat inside when-ever sides switched on -- progress??.

I have the same issue with 3 small VDO gauges, sidelights on for a few minutes warms them up enough to clear it as already mentioned. Unless they're sealed there is always a risk the moist air can get in and condense on the cooler dial glass.

Like Bob, I have the flight gauges.

No misting problems as yet and I would be disappointed if the do.

As far as heating goes, you would be surprised how much heat comes, through the fire wall joints and holes. If you drive faster you might get them to clear faster. You also might also end up with a few heavy fines and some nice co-op dividend point on your licence as well.
