Chassis Plate for IVA

Can anyone point us in the right direction? Firstly, when it comes to the chassis plate, we don’t have the original off the donor car but according to the IVA inspection manual we are required to have one. If we do require one, Kit Spares will stamp a new one but need the front and rear axle weights, along with the other information, do we need to have the car weighed once complete or is there a set of standards we can use?
Cheers

The weights on the plate are not the actual weight of the car but the maximum allowable weight when fully loaded with driver passenger luggage etc.

So weighing your car will not help, as the suspension is sierra based for a 2B any weight up to what ford allowed is reasonable with some consideration for the springs you have fitted.

The VIN should be unique (and not the doners) and can be issued by DLVA or you could use your name and date of significant event padde out to the required length with random numbers as a lot of people have done.

Thank you Ian, spot on. Completely cleared that up for me, I was very much in the dark on this!

You don't need the weights on the plate - just VIN number and manufacturer. In fact, it is an IVA fail if you put the weight on and it is too low, so better not to put it on at all.

Ref. to IVA section 18 -Statutory Plates  Also Note 2

The details I stamped on my plate where correct for a 2B

I did not read  Note 2 when I prepaired my car for IVA and passed 1st time.
