Great read from a fellow superspec owner. Thanks for the reminder about the window. Have been meaning to get that laminated for ages!

for others reference the timing belt kit was:
K015289XS POWERGRIP TIMING BELT KIT S/D2

Think that would be very helpful!! ta, will try and make it!

out of interest did it clear the popping on overrun? mine does this. I believe Al R blocked up one exhaust port and this cleared this (and other issues around lack of back pressure)

This research really helped me out on friday. Wanted to get timing belt finally replaced as its either 23 years old (engine age from manufacture) or 7 years old (from first registration) so over due really dispite embarrassingly low milleage (4000).
Garage was reluctant to do work, and we agreed on an hourly rate. Told them mine is a rover 220 and they ordered that timing belt kit.
Fitted without incident and cost me £200 all in. Very pleased (oh and passed mot too!)
thanks all, really helpful.

I started to look into this - either an inlet or outlet is behind the pump...so you need to make a manifold to replace the existing water / powersteering pump and then supply water to that to get into (or out) of the engine block!
Been a few months - have you got anywhere with this - I still intend to do this, and get a someone to tig up a nice bespoke manifold!

Hi All,
I don't know where else to turn for advice
I have a wanting for a lathe for when I need something round, a hole it it, shaped, notched, tapered, grooved and other things I don't need yet but will one day. They are a lot of cash, and I have no experience so not sure what things to look for.
Most of my stuff is machine mart / axminster - so was thinking something like http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-model-engineer-series-sc2-mini-lathe-505102
Is it worth saving some more and look to get one with power feeds such as SC4?
How important is knowing visually using a digital gauge what you are changing, verses measure, take some off, measure again / experience?
Any thoughts, musing would be appreciated

Definitely mean timing belt. Mine is 6 years of use old + the 5 years sitting in a crate, time to be replaced!

Hi,
Anyone changed one yet? I've never done one before - so going to give it ago! Any hints tips (parts number for bits I might need like tensioners) appreciated. As water pump is separate won't have to deal with wet feet

Do u have the wiring diagram for the kit?

when i went across Canada most of the campsites let you have open fires and provided an old lorry wheel rim to have it in. I've had it in my mind for ages to make one using a rim as they are nice thick steel so should rot out for a good while.
I liked this mini stove:

Hi,
I upgraded from the original shocks / springs to nice shiny gaz on my Superspec.....there was nothing wrong with the zimmers at the time they were removed, but they have a poor rep here! I changed them as wanted to help with grounding issues - don't use GBS for that sort of work, clueless is the way I would describe them!
They are available for beer tokens to anyone who can find them useful!
I'm in Droitwich, so collection really.
cheers

The Golf GTI 8V pump is well documented. It's external & comes as a complete assy with filter & "accumulator" (read swirl pot). It's good for about 180bhp allegedly.
Resurrecting an old thread, but anyone got experience of using these? They seem such a simple unit to add with a plain tank (no swirl). looking to replace my superspec fiesta tank with either kit spares one or obp with rover engine.
Cheers

Hi,
I am not getting the time to fix a problem with my car, and also want to make a couple of upgrades to the car. Anyone recommend a garage that would be able to do the work in Worcestershire or nearby. Not adverse to the idea of another RHOCAR member if of interest (and they have their own car so i can see ) cash available!
Problem: Indicators / Hazards. This has plagued mine for ages, I did a temp fix that was in place for 4 years. It needs that circuit rewiring and switch gear replacing.
upgrades: I got an ali radiator from GBS - needs fitting (replacing rover radiator, so some fabrication needed) and.... i want to swap out the mechanical combined water and power steering pump to a elec water pump and ditch power steering pump. I have all the parts for this (well except hoses and any fabrication parts). Ideally I would like my seat to move, as previous builder welded it!
Send me a message on here, or 07915089569
Cheers Ed
