  1. Is the spare st170 the curated version or the zetec version and is it for sale separately as may be interested
  2. It did happen before. I have changed the pump over as to eliminate the pump as it had run dry when the fuel gauge didn't work. I could always put it back in as now I know how to do it. It hasnt made any difference. I have also run without the air filter and reset the tps for it. I haven't checked for the spark on all four but I know cylinder 1 is getting a good spark. The only other thing I could do is take apart the injection manifold to check for blockage and check the injectors
  3. I have ordered a new crank position sensor as on the rover forums they say that a failed sensor could produce this effect. If its not this I am seriously going to consider a zetec
  4. Thanks brumster. My uncle has one we can borrow. Some good news I can get to start when it's cold but when it is at operating temperature (fan kicks in) any application of throttle and it cuts out. It then won't start
  5. I have put at least 3 bottles of redex through them and don't fancy taking the injectors out but if I have too I guess we will. It's just annoying as all the warm weather for once and haven't had a single run. I have also gone through the engine loom and everything is in one piece as a signal is going from one end to the other on every sensor
  6. well i have replaced dizzy, ht leads and coil. i halve also checked for any loose connections and replaced the inlet air temp sensor (it was reading faulty on diagnostics) went for a run to put petrol in and it was popping all the way with big backfires. Stopped at the fuel station and since then it has refused to start. The new sensor is still throwing an error and wont clear itself from the error memory. I am starting to lose patience with it and really want to swap the engine out now but want to keep the very strong rover engine.
  7. well me and my dad are going to take the electrics off tomorrow and put all new connections on to eliminate any electrical issues
  8. It didn't show anything last time but maybe the faulty coil was hiding it
  9. Update. New coil and King lead (had a nick in it) installed. Speedo doesn't bounce so plus 1 for an issue I didn't realise. However the stuttering is still happening when it is up to temperature. I have replaced fuel pump and screen, fuel filter and now the coil and king lead. The issue is still there and when I reverse the car just stalls even with a bit of throttle. It then refuse to start unless you put your foot to the floor. Does anyone have any ideas on this after this update
  10. Having read on the internet and practically changed all but the fuel lines. Could it be a coil issue creating the stuttering as i read that a faulty coil could give you a misfire under load but wouldn't be present when sat idling. This is exactly when it happens although im not sure about when i put it into reverse and have to start it up again with full throttle.
  11. i havent had a chance to look over the weekend and with the England game on last night that wasn't happening either. Hopefully will be able to get a good look sometime this week so long as work doesnt get in the way
  12. I have had a look at the pipe and there is a crease in the pipe which probably won't be helping things
  13. where can i get new nylon hoses from if they need replacing
  14. I'm not 100% sure it's coming from the piping but if there is a vacuum would it push fuel out of the push fit fittings on the top of the fuel pump assembly to the hoses
  15. The isn't low as i have checked that visually when the pump was out. The fuel leak is an issue i just don't think it would cause the issue. The pump hangs in from the pump assembly into what can be described only as a large circular pool from which the pump draws the fuel from. Would this be the swirl pot but it will also happen when on a flat-ish road. I am at a loss where the issue could be coming from as it was running fine around the time of stoneleigh after i had fixed the vacuum tube to the injection manifold. I will be taking the car electrics apart and seeing if their could be an issue there
  16. Hi all. I have now changed the fuel pump, fuel filter and the pre pump filter in my rover engined (fuel injected) superspec. Initially the run was good, it was feeling good but when it got upto temperature it started to stutter. Not near as bad as it was until I went around a corner up a hill and it almost stopped like before and when engaging reverse it did stop and would only start if I put my foot flat to the floor and turn the key. There was a slight leak coming from the fuel line at the top of the pump assembly but don't think there was enough to cause the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions and where can I get the fuelines for it from. Thanks in advance.

    Led Wiring

stupid question time. Have you got the wires on the LED the right way as the flow through a LED is one way only. Have you identified the Positive wire and the Negative wire correctly
  18. I'll see if the pump number works with ford
  19. The guy at Ford said on the side or underneath
  20. Do we know roughly the size of the engine that the tank came from
  21. Hi does anyone know their code on the superspec fuel tank. I know it is a fiesta mk5 one but I need a new strainer for the fuel pump and Ford aren't interested unless I have a reg or part number. I have tried kitspares and local motor factors and so far no good. Your help is very much appreciated
  22. i used one from a mk1 focus. fits superbly plus the stalks and there mount slot on. only fettling was to the airbag i.e getting it off
  23. it started after i had refueled the car as we ran the tank to empty to find where 0 was on the gauge as we have mismatched sender and gauge. it was then subsequently filled with fuel from tescos via a jerry can then driven to tesco where it had small blip but has obviously got worse. The tank has run empty a few times especially when it was running incredibly rich which makes me think it could be pump or filter. I a going to my local motorfactors and im going to get a new filter as thats the easiest thing to change but i will definitely crack open the tank and look for water
