  1. Saturday 24th September at the GBS Factory. Ruth, Just thought I should mention that we have our End of the Year Bash on this weekend and unless it's local to the venue then a lot of us may miss it.
  2. Some pictures posted here of the event - http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=43321&page=4
  3. Wow....light the fuse-wire and watch the fireworks.... That's a little bit heated, but a great debate.... All the information is extremely useful to myself and anybody who ventures onto this forum for help. What can I say, you guys are funny, great and informative all rolled into a shiny RHOCaR tin that does exactly what it says on the label. There's nothing better, than to read peoples views on 2 different products. Amazing how much you guys have "been there, done that - worn the t-shirt" and being such informative, nice guys continue to help others and try to stop them from wasting money and making the same mistakes.. Quote - "Dino, don't infer I'm a wuss again now I have done this you numpty. Alway bloody trouble causing you little imp" I try my best Ken , but don't worry, you DO NOT offend anybody personally, you just a have an opinion and your own personal experience that needs expressing. This what makes a great forum....Debates and opinions on different ideas and products. Thanks guys, I better keep my head below the parapet next time I start a Top Trumps War
  4. Nice bling

  7. Isn't that what most women say?
  8. Drilled and grooved look pretty with painted calipers. But bigger 260mm seem to sit better within a large alloy wheel. Oh the choices.....
  9. Front Disk Brakes - 260mm vented VS 240mm grooved, drilled & vented. Who wins?
  10. I normally use a brake cleaner and small wire brush to clean up brakes, but somebody at work suggested cleaning the drums with boiling water to remove the residue. He said just get a bucket of boiling water and place the drums in and the brake dust will evaporate. Is this true or just another fairy tale?
  11. Just got to get into wet leaking garage and can confirm.... Flood lights don't work. Floor is wet. Roof is leaking... But more importantly the cars are OK Master cylinders are as follows: Front - 0.625 Rear - 0.7 Front brakes are 240mm vented disks Rear are smaller 1.6 drums with slave cylinder leaking and very, very dirty yet the spring and shoes look very good (after cleaning). Dave informs me all the brakes are good to go and the shoes etc. were updated in 2013. So it looks like I need to replace smaller, tired worn out drums and cylinders before moving forward. Luckily as per Ian's suggestion I already have a donor car onsite for testing
  12. Ian, were they off a Ford Granada or XR4?
  13. Mmmmmm....trying to remember on the sensor and the figures. Front brakes were reading different values possibly something like - Drivers side 160 Passengers 130 Rears Brakes: Never got over 50 and I do remember them laughing and the tester saying the handbrake was also rubbish. I will try cleaning up the rear drums and replacing the slave cylinders (especially if they are leaking), bleeding and double checking the bias bar set-up. Then back around to the rollers to see if this improves things. BRUM - Any way of identifying the duff slave cylinders from the good?
  14. Hmmm....Just had a good read thru the discussion and can definitely confirm that no matter how hard the brake are jumped on - none of the brakes will not lock up (maybe a good thing). But on the flip side they also take an age to slow the vehicle (mainly the front disks doing all the work) According to the rollers on the MOT centre, the tiny front disks barely passed and the rear drums were non existent. I removed the drivers side drum last night and found a leaking cylinder and hoping that this maybe be the issue. Tonight I will have a look at the passenger side drum and give a little more feedback on some of the questions being asked. Highly appreciate the feedback. So it looks like the consensus is to fix what is broken and get it working properly now, then maybe look into upgrading to something cheap, reliable and better once the problem has been resolved. Damn you BRUM - I was about to order 2x of those £10 slave cylinders off a famous auction site.......
  15. Grim, my good friend. It all stems from the MOT and front and rear brakes not being up to scratch for the 240bhp engine. The tester failed the car and recommended I upgrade to better brakes or at least fix the problem with the rear drums not working....(leaking cylinder). So to get it thru the MOT I was going to clean the drums, replace both cylinders and bleed system as the springs, shoes etc. are still very good and were updated in 2013. No matter how hard I hit the brakes it will not lock up (which I would expect when intentionally trying too) and not very responsive compared to the rest of the car. Nikki and myself are very happy with the firm feeling (ooeer missus) and this is not an issue, not even had enough road time to experience brake fade from heat. But my 2 tonne 4x4 is more responsive and that takes a lot of effort to slow down, and this is a quarter of the weight and takes a lot longer to stop with effort. No Servo, but brake set-up looks like this:
  16. OK Kids, I have a Robin Hood 2B based on a Sierra 1.6. Now it's has plenty of poke with a 3.0 V6 but won't stop. Meantime to get it thru the MOT I will need to replace a few bits and bleed the braking system on the drums (leaky cylinders etc.) But I think the measly 1.6 drums and disks are not up to the task of stopping the beast of Brum when a granny steps out at the crossing. Front Brakes: So I'm asking for options for upgrading the front brakes and recommendation of where to purchase. Example - (Wilwoods 4 pot etc....) which do not break the bank balance. Can I just purchase bigger Cosworth/4x4/2.0 front brake disks (from auction site) and calipers and replace the 1.6 versions. Rear Brakes: Well after opening up the rear brakes on the new kit last night and comparing them to my older 2.0 based kit I noticed the drums are far smaller. During the sorn period It might be an opportune time to upgrade the rear brakes. What are my options? Can I just swap the 1.6ltr drums to 2.0ltr drums Or should I upgrade to rear disks and calipers as I have to remove the old worn out/small drums?

  19. Thanks Derek, we await the passes. Would be nice if this becomes a regular event as it was shocking how the weather, (charges for the sellers and lack of promotion) deterred so many attendees at the Stoneleigh Show.
  20. Nothing serious and I have a 4 wheel incentive to recovery quickly.
  21. I think she has answered the question.......Smooooooth and stylish, with a deep growl when something gets in the way... I do love Nikki's first mod to the Kitty, a no brakes sticker on the dash board to remind her.... As soon as the quacks sign me fit to drive and the sun shines, it will be my turn....
  22. Yes, it was returned to its trusty home last night. Thank you very much Rich, greatly appreciated - I owe you a drink or 2 or 3...
  23. Keith & Chris, how did you get on with the RR?
  24. Nikki has this booking been confirmed and do we need any promotional material from Phil etc..? Are there anybody else interested in this event and it seems to have got lost in the posts and nobody was aware.
