Have a rake through forums, there are a couple of really goo wiring diagrams for column switches, I used them to do mine no probs
-
Now sorted....... turned out to be faulty push start switch in gear knob ..... new circuit from ignition switch to starter solenoid through 4 pin relay just the job
-
New battery, fully charged, when i left ignition on and put jump lead from +ve side of battery to +ve feed to solenoid and car turned over and fired up
-
Car all ready for MOT ..... and it wont turn over, just a loud 'click' from solenoid, all connections & earths checked and OK, so time for a replacement..... but struggling to get correct unit, it appears as though there are 5 variants for the 2L and I'm struggling to get correct one (Lucas), now awaiting 'special order' delivery from europarts

See you all the 26th

Hi sorry its my fat fingers late at night, other side of lamp should go to Ign switch +ve ....sorry

It should work

Try bigger wattage bulb in alternator feed wire temporary before stripping alternator off, I had same problem with ignition on - blue thin wire to alternator is +ve to one terminal of warning light and other terminal of warning light is to -ve, when the engine starts and alternator running the bulb 'excites' the alternator and the blue wire changes to -ve ,hence the light goes out, if the alternator belt snaps etc the alternator stops charging and the blue wire returns to a +ve condition illuminating ignition light, sounds complicated but really easy if you break it down

I put a number plate lamp under bonnet in parallel with ignition light to excite alternator

Hi Lewis
I have literally taken mine out yesterday and replaced it with a unit purchased from Burton (see link above) I removed old breather with a pair of pump pliers, rotating it back and forth whilst lifting and it came out no trouble, cleaned hole with cloth and burton aluminium breather pressed straight in with a gentle tap home with a nylon hammer
