  4. Hi all, Sharon and I will be abseiling down the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster on the 18th March! Arghhhh! I just hope the weather's fine! We're doing it in aid of Derian House, Children's Hospice. It's based in Chorley, and provides support and respite care to families with terminally ill children from all over the North West. They are open 365 days a year, but only receive state funding for 4 days a year. If you'd like to sponsor us, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/enjoyyourmeal and donate online... 28% is added to your gift if you're a UK taxpayer! Wish us luck! The Ashton Memorial, Lancaster
  5. Thanks for the reply's, It's amazing how the brain works (or doesn't) when you look at a problem. I was trying to think up some kind of pivoting rack that the spare bolted, but it's pretty obvious really to fix studs to the wheel and do the securing inside the boot.... I'll trot down to the garage and take a piccy of the cover for you Darren. It came from Cutlers http://www.wheelcover.com/index1.html
  6. Thanks all, Nigel, My vdo gauge is located in the original whole for the sierra sender and I think it's a fraction too large, which is stopping it making a good seal. It's not just the one sender that leaks, it's them all! Im fed up with it! Danny, cheers for the link... i'll givce them a looking. Thanks again
  7. Hi all, I'm completely fed up with my RHE fuel tank. It leaks! I have had many attempts to stop it which have worked for a while but then have given up. It's not the filler neck, it's the fuel pickup.... not the standard sierra one it's a VDO unit with a seperate fuel pick up. where I have made plates to fix these new bits to they always pee fuel out as it sloshes around my unbaffled tank. I'm cheesed off with it... Where else can I get a new tank from that wont need to be hacked around and start leaking? One with baffles so my fuel gauge doesn't wave at me all the time! And has anyone got the aero style fuel cap to seal propely and would like to tell me the secret! Cheers, Jon
  8. Hi Guy's, I've splashed out and bought a spare wheel cover..... looks the dogs and fits like a glove! The only problem is that with it on the wheel, I can't secure it to the car and if I secure the wheel to the car I can't get the cover on. If I slacken the fixings off I can get the cover on but the spare wheel then moves about whilst driving . I've been racking my brains trying to think of a way of sorting it....... It's a 2b by the way. How have others solved the problem?
  9. I managed to fit mine without taking anything out, though I have seen a few examples where they've taken chunks out. Personally i'd try to avoid cutting into them.... it is possible to fit them without. Jon
  10. Sounds to me like something is out of balance. I had this problem on my Pug... at 65mph and above there was a bad vibration which went away as the speed increased further. I swopped the front wheels to the back and there was a vast improvement. When I got the tyres changed and rebalanced the vibration went completely. Jon
  11. Good avdice! As soon as I noticed the vibration I checked round all the front suspension, took the discs and calipers off and checked all was sitting correctly... no rust stopping the discs sitting flat etc. put it all back together in the hope that the vibration may have disappeared but no. Warped disc's was my conclusion. Jon
  12. Thanks for the replies. The discs i'm on are most likely the cheapest in the world knowing RHE buying practices. I will buy some from Mr Ford very soon as the vibration back through the steering wheel isn't that pleasant, especially under light braking. Any Idea on the price of genuine discs? Jon
  13. Hi all, I've been driven my 2b for over 4K now and the front discs have been fine, then all of a sudden there warped! I've not changed my driving style, so why has it happened? They are the vented type that I got from RHSC with my overhaul kit when I purchased my kit. Is it a sign that my calipers are on their way out.... I've had the wheels off and checked all is well... nothing else appears to be wrong... Any thoughts? Cheers, Jon
  14. I experienced the same when building my 2b. The over sized holes in the chassis plates do allow you to tweek the exact position of your engine though. I found late on in my build that the exhaust manifold was too close to the steering shaft so I moved the engine mounts in the holes to give me some clearance. Jon

Thanks all at the show today. There was a good turn out of Robinhoods, a cobra and a Marlin. Cheers Trevor and Karl for the invite. See you next year! Jon
  16. Errm yep! Mud flaps was what I was trying to say! Cheers for the suggestion Jim.
  17. Hi, Anyone suggest a good material for making mud guards for my 2b our of? Fed up of getting a wall of water hitting me every time i turn a corner on a wet road! Cheers, Jon
  18. Hi, As some of you will know i've modified my distributor as Dave Andrews suggests for use with my FR33 cam. I've been doing a few checks tonight to make sure all is well. I've tested my advance curve and i'm getting full 40deg advance at 3000 rpm. Static advance is 20 degs. ........oh bugger... just remembered i've not disconnected the vacuum advance when i've tested it! Does it make that much difference?? The original question was Dave recommends max advance at 3250-3500rpm.... if im getting max advance at 3000rpm am i damaging my engine?? It all seems to run ok. Cheers, Jon
  19. If you fill in your location in your profile there my be someone near you who can come round and drink your coffee and eat all your biscuits! ......and maybe offer some assistance!
  20. I had similar problems when I upgraded to an FR33 fast road cam without modifying the distributors advance curve. Really bad misfire between 2000 - 3000 rpm. There's a good bit of advice and links to sites that tell you how to modify your dizzy yourself in this thread below: http://community.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=12186 Good luck. Jon
  21. I thought that the Torx style head bolts as pictured didn't need re-torqueing after a period of running. Once you have them to the specified torque you then give them a further 90deg turn and that's it....job done.
  22. I have a slight contact problem between exhaust manifold and steering shaft but it only happens on left hand bends when the engine + manifold moves towards the steering shaft. On Right hand corners the gap gets bigger. Unless you have a differnet manifold steering shaft arrangement (steering shaft through the manifold) in not sure it's possible to get them to touch when the engine moves both ways... Just a thought! Jon
