Nigel (Longboarder) I am surprised you hadn't tried putting some in front of you like Nigel, instead of all in the middle, or was your old dash like that? I think that the important clocks should be straight in front with the lesser ones more on the periphery.
Well you did ask for comments!

This may be a good build tip, not to put a heater or fuse box in the way for future access use. I had done this on my Mk1.

Well the heat has to go somewhere Colin, so if your manifold is well insulated it will heat up the silencer more instead of the engine bay. Should get some good scars on your leg too!

Ant just in case you were hoping for an answer I first insured my hood with them in 96 but then later changed over to Flux. Had no problems with them they took my money without complaining, and as I didn't make any claims all was well. Flux were a bit cheaper at the time .

Hi chaps just to add my penoth? bare zinc plate will be silver and as Jim said will start corroding fairly quickly, that is its job, it is a sacrificial coating so it corrodes before the steel. The secret is the passivation, which can add colour, it can be clear. the photos show the gold finish. This protects the zinc and it is very important that it is done well, it can vary quite a lot. Daveq mentioned cad, which is cadmium plating, this is illegal now in europe and I think the US are probably the only place that still do it legally, it is very good but just kills lots of things.

And if they can adjust the castor you need about 3°.

Iain, apart from the fact of it being a 2.1 you haven't said if it is modified or not. If not, a DGAV with std. 2l jets should be fine, look in a haynes manual or pm me and I will look. If it is modifed then go for the DGAS, Big Jim has some settings on the NW Hoodies site, I am using very similar ones in mine and it runs ok.

I never use anything on a head gasket but on others I usually just use a smear of grease, helps hold it in position too.

I am not sure John I think they will, the centre hole is 79mm, if yours is still in pieces can you check the size of the spigot on the casting?

If you look on Dave Andrews site there is a bit on fitting different shockers and a drawing of a bracket to suit. rear this should be of interest

A common problem is sealant in the tank blocking the feed pipe, turning the engine off for a while means the crap moves away and it runs fine until the repeat performance.

Robbie even if it is cold the temperature gauge should show more or less normal. unless your thermostat is missing/jammed open. Should be worth investigating, running cold and rich is not good news.

Haven't they got a fibreglass/carbon fibre rear spring or was that the later one?

Steve I understand that we have to thank Mal 'The Bear' for our prize names!
It was a great time, many thanks to John and Helen. If they continue at this rate we will take over the whole pub next year.
