  1. Dredd I don't know if this is goig to help or not but seering 'welght' is normally due to the geometry involved, castor, king pin angle, wheel offset etc. as well as tyre pressures. Adjusting the coil tension on your Zeemerides will stiffen or soften the front end and adjust the ride height but not have any effect on the steering weight. Bump steer is caused by the steering rack being in the wrong place, look from the front of the car and the whole of the steering rack should be in a straight line, not with the rack arms pointing upwards or downwards. If they are not level as the suspension moves up they effectively get shorter (or longer) so turning the the hub.

  2. Calling on the vast wealth of experience out there, does anyone know the best way to refit the pull cord rewind spring on a little Ervinrude after you have undone it? It was very keen to get out but not to go back!

  3. Thanks for the replies chaps, I will start getting some made up and let you know when they are ready.

ps. Gordon, I assume you have the cosworth rear end on your car? I think you will find that the trailing arms give less negative camber than the standard ones as the car was designed to sit lower.

  4. Just picked up my new Mondeo TDCi 2.0l duratorq Stage IV 130ps 6 speed (company car) today. Very quick indeed and drives very well. B)

Dredd, not quite what one of sales guys thinks, mind you he has always had petrol engines. Says the power is very limited to 2-3K fairly dead either side of that, I guess thats why they have put a 6 speed box in it.

  5. I am 99% certain all injection engines have the hardened seat inserts, if you are planning to take the head off you can see them (just) The markings on the head are sometimes quite feint so it may be an L not an I.

  6. Richard are you sure it is the tappets making the noise, could it be something else?

The belt cover, alternator, etc. the crank case vent valve can click away quite a lot too, that sounds noisier at tick over assuming you have the std. inlet manifold set up.
