Well tough luck Nigel, you will be missing this cold wet weather, offspring with assorted problems, but most of all your Car! How will you be able to cope? Have a good time though not that I am jealous or anything. :boohoo:

Any news or are you going to keep us all in suspense about this Nigel?

Do any of the kit car insurers take the 'Pass plus' scheme? I understand that some of the main insurers give quite a substantial reduction for young people with it.

Guy, if the in and out pipes are hot then it is not an air lock. Either needs a good flush or are you sure air is blowing through it?.

I think the Excaliber was a Jag SS100 looking job Cortina based and made in the wilds of west Cambridgeshire, but I could be wrong.

Andrew where abouts are you? put it in your details. If you are not too far away I have a flywheel sitting in my garage with a block attached.

Russler, there is a man on the Locost site making and selling complete stainless silencers which look pretty good, you could try asking him. It is under the sales section (stating the bleeding obvious!)

Pete, I guess it depends on what you are using the car for. Rose joints are very nicely engineered spherical joints which allow movement in different planes, similar to a ball joint (track rod end) What you get is free movement acurrately controlled, and tend to used on race car suspension. Normal cars iclude rubber bushes to allow movement this gives a resistance to the movement but also a lot of flex or compliance so the geometry does not have to be exact but most importantly absorbs road shocks and noise. So unless you are planning to use it only as a track car I would suggest not going for fully rose jointed. I am sure other people will have different ideas though.

Congratulations Matt, I don't suppose you did all the hard work though. I hope everything is going well.

Joni it sounds like it could be a fuel problem to me if it revs ok with no load. Have you any filters in the system? check them for crap, a common problem is if you have used sealant on your tank it falls in and blocks the feed pipe. It could also be a failing fuel pump.
Peter
Where are you by the way?

Glyn I got one from my local radiator place that comes on at about 86° I think. It is fine, there was one occasion in the summer when it was very hot and it was running all the while I was going along the motorway but at least it comes on before it is too late!

Dale the RS2000 sump which I and many others have is the same depth as the bell housing so you wont gain much by going any shorter. Do you think the engine is sitting too low?

Where did you get to Duncan? there were 3 hoods, locost, pheonix, eagle and a tin top or two all waiting to meet you at the Star and garter. Stephen came all the way from Hemel Hempstead but he left the new lightweight at home.

What spares have you got in the boot Stephen?

James, a friend of my daughters recently did an Automotive engineering course at Oxford Brooks, seems to have enjoyed it they even built a Tiger as part of it. He says though if you want to get into motor sport you need to try to get some experience with the teams/companies early on otherwise it is hard to try to get anywhere.
Good luck. Peter.
ps. Red 7, is there a lot of demand now for autocad? I thought 3D modelling was replacing it rapidly. I started in a big D.O. with pencils and pretty coloured inks. I remember the day when one of the older draughtsmen launched a blazing paper dart at his mate only to set fire to 3 months work. The dart man ended up running the whole office!

Going to the northampton meet on Sunday then Duncan?
