  1. You could make the channel by bending some square tube around a wooden former like I did for my hardtop and then cutting the redundant face off with a jigsaw.

    Hollowell 2014

I didn't make it either (I wasn't planning on being in the Midlands at the weekend but didn't go to Wales in the end). So I spent Friday night and Saturday getting aquainted with a sewing machine making a Surrey top and then on Sunday I started making a second one for another Hoodie. Looks like we missed a great weekend.
  3. The last one sold on here went for £40 http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=38408

    2.0 Pinto Water Pump

    Buy the cheapest!
  5. If the washer's there, then the belt should only move fore and aft on the pulleys by maybe 5mm. You're probably ok to check the timing, maybe highlight the marks with tipp-ex to make them stand out a bit more. If you're not completely confident, I can pop round tomorrow night after work and give it the once over. pm also sent.
  6. Here's an actual photo. The arrow points to the washer and you can see it's relative position to the timing pointer. The dished shape of the washer stops the belt wandering forwards.
  7. Look underneath the car, immediately behind the crankshaft pulley in front of where the cambelt goes, you should see a big washer as shown in this image. If it's not there, the belt will move around on the pulley.
  8. Apart from all the ignition stuff that's been swapped, have you have the cambelt off of adjusted the tensioner? Interested to see what's happening regarding the cambelt moving around. Also, is the edge of the belt marked where it's rubbing on the cover or is the cover similarly marked. I can possibly get a cam pulley washer today if yours is missing.
  9. Look from underneath, the washer should be easily visible if it's there.
  10. If you can slide the belt back on the pulley then it's probably too loose. Just thinking about my earlier post. The big dished washer that stops the blet moving is fitted IN FRONT of the cambelt sprocket in the crank, between the sprocket and the bottom fanbelt pulley. Thrashed forgot to fit this on his car and the belt was moving forwards on the pulley. Check you've actually got one fitted. Badly worn tensioner could also possibly cause the belt to move about.

    He's Back!

There's rumours now that Jeremy Beadle might have had a small hand in things!
  12. Is the belt moving forwards on the pulley? It should really centre itself, a bit of moverment backwards and forwards whilst it's running is ok but more often than not the belt sits towards the rear of the pulleys because it sits iyself against the big dished washer that's fitted on the nose of the crank behind the bottom cambelt pulley. Is the belt tension correct - should just twist 90 degrees in the middle of the long run between the cam pulley and the dizzy drive pulley. Fouled plugs on idle might be mixture, are the plugs oily or sooty?
  13. It's a con - you don't need to appeal. By appealing, you're effectively admitting the offense. Event if you were mad enough to appeal, this company is just ripping you a new one for doing something you can do youself. They're just the same as the places that do your car tax online for you and charge an extra £40 ( http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/chat/road-tax-scam-232137 ), or your driving license renewal.
  14. Have you replaced the dizzy cap and the rotor arm?
  15. I think Area Secs are a different group to members so we can edit our posts despite the time limits. As Alan says this is very useful for updating attendees at meets but for normal members, I think 30 day limit is probably sufficient and would be ok for all be the most unusual circumstances which could be dealt with by a pm to a moderator.
  16. Just ignore any correspondance, getting into any sort of dialogue with them is bad news..
  17. btw - was it actually your car?
  18. I've had one of these - Ignore it and don't send any sort of response. They'll keep writing to you and get progressively more threatening but there's very little they can do, they just rely on the letters looking legal and hope people cave in and pay up. If they take you to court they have to prove you agreed to an implied contract which is virtually impoossible to do. If you do start to correspond with them, they will start to turn up the heat because they know you're worried. 6 of us at work went out for a meal and parked in Aldi carpark for a couple of hours. We all got a parking charge notice. One bloke paid up immediately but the rest of us ignored all correspondance that was sent to us and after about 3 months they gave up and left us alone. There's heaps of info about this on the net but this covers the main points: http://www.thelawfor...-parking-charge
  19. 77kW at 5500rpm will do on the form for a Pinto 100mph for the designed road speed Body style - I put 2 seat sports but sports convertible is probably ok These are what I used for my IVA. In Section 2 of the amateur build declaration just tick every box. You don't want to getting into a duscussion regarding a part-built car. YOU HAVE DONE ALL OF THE WORK YOURSELF!!! edit: Derby test centre is fine, both examiners are very helpful and give a fair test.
  20. Easy, it's the one with the break in it that's buried in the harness.

    S7 Prop Shaft

Dave Mac in Coventry. It's a bit of a trek from Banbury but they're highly recommended. http://davemacprops.co.uk/
  22. Great turnout last night, thanks to everyone who came along. I think we ended up with 13 kits and 7 tin tops so obviously not everyone's mad about football. Nice to see a few new faces too and I hope that all club events this summer are blessed with decent weather and are well supported.
  23. Looks like we're on for a good turnout tonight.
