Exactly. So my thoughts are if he st150 had better rods/frank/ pistons or head it would be a better start. Even if I kept rods and changed pistons for example. Just dont have enough info to make that decision. I keep reading the buttons website for the 2.5 duratecs and then look at the price. Makes Richys v8 conversion look cheap!

Not looking for mega power, around 250-260 would be perfect! but being able to use the power is more important and having it reliable. A nice revvy engine would be a bonus. Makes you feel like your going fast!

Thanks Dan, already seen that, but it seems to say the st150 and normal duratec are the same, which they are not? My guess is different cams and ecu tune, but not sure. I can pick a normal duratec 2.0 up for less than half the price of a st150. need to know 100% the extra money is worth it for the st150. If not, will buy a normal duratec and then add the cosworth parts to it.

Hi All I am getting a fair amount of conflicting information with regards to duratec engines, so I am hoping you guys can help out. 1 - What cars did the different duratecs come from? 2.0, 2.3 & 2.5. Not looking at the v6 versions, all 4 pots? 2 - Whats the difference between the st150 duratec (n4jb) and the `normal' one HE i4? 3 - Is the 2.5 ST a duratec badge but really a Zetec? If anyone can help with these questions that would be good, No one seems to have any first hand experience with these and all the information is internet/ facebook hearsay. Any other duratec info would be great. Thanks Steve
