  1. Some of the views from the weekend https://goo.gl/photos/TLBDThVezzwZyVMW9 https://goo.gl/photos/9xq3tshdJcVEXLrK9
  2. As said another great weekend arranged by Richard and Jackie. Was a little wet on occasions but nowhere near enough to dampen my spirits. So pleased my car worked all weekend and no one broke down. I ended up doing 525 with a very reasonable 27mpg for the weekend. Just sat down for a cuppa tea now https://goo.gl/photos/nksbDUUnAMesgfUXA Have booked the weekend off next year just in case we can bully Richard and Jackie to host another year. Thanks for an awesome weekend. The Minehams
  3. 1 X Beef & ale pie 1 X lasagna 1x profitaroles 1 X cheesecake If they can do chicken nuggets or fish fingers and chips for Paige that would be ace.
  4. Is that just from smoother power or more power or both?
  5. Think I am going to keep things simple. Not sure how much benefit a megajolt will give me? Happy to be convinced
  6. Well got a reply from accuspark. Absolutely not help at all. They do not offer any specific advise on how the use their product other than the bottom end should be 25-30 at lower rpm and 75 max at max revs. Brilliant! On a more positive note this all becomes irellivent as the issue has not been with the settings but with the whole blackbox. The box is faulty and is what has been causing all my issues. This is the second one to got faulty so it has all beven stripped out and put in the bin. Going back to a standard dizzy with electronic points. Just need to figure out if it worth making a vacuum plenum for the vacuum advance on the new dizzy?
  7. That's it. I have a dead coil and I am thinking it might be some of my settings in the blackbox. Will keep everyone posted once I hear back from accuspark
  8. Yer saw this but I don't have the kit on the second laptop to see what is happening.
  9. Sent an email and waiting a reply. My thought was they must have pre set up maps?
  10. Thanks for the info guys, i now know how and why but with my blackbox that allows me to program the dwell, what sort of figures should i use? it is currently set to 45' lower down rising to 70' at top end. does this seem right?
  11. Thanks, that will give me something to read
  12. No, but trying to understand what the box is trying to do. I now understand that the car has 90' of dwell per cylinder. the next part to understand is how long should the points be closed/ opened during the 90' cycle? obviously 45' would be 50%, which from my map starts to make sense on how long the dwell is but i dont understand if this is correct or ideal?
  13. Thanks Ian The resistance on the leads is 0.6ohms, so if my reading is 1.3, does this mean my read coil reading is 0.7ohms? Thanks for the explanation on points. starting to make sense as what is meant to happen,
  14. Having done some further testing i have checked the resistance of the coil. I have the intermotor 11330 coil, which is just a standard coil. The resistance reading between + and - is 1.3 ohms, but the haynes manual says it should be 0.72-0.88ohms. The secondard windings are reading at 6810, which accord to Haynes should be 4500 - 7000ohm, so right at the top end. Am i reading this right and the coil is duff or am i worrying about nothing?
  15. Also. When the points are closed is that drawing the current from the coil or discharging it?
  16. Thanks Kevin. So the next question is how long should the points be closed at a given rpm?

  18. Hi all I need some education! I have a pinto running an FR32 cam and raised compression with ported head and a few other tweeks. Running the ignition i have the accuspark stealth blackbox. The dizzy is a accuspark and is locked out with no vacuum advance. On our run out yesterday, it was very difficult to get started and was what felt like misfiring. At the end of the run at Richys we pulled the plugs and they were covered in a black velvety soot. From my research, this could be fueling, but i done think so as on the rolling road it had perfect afr readings, so other possible cause is ignition timing. I swapped the plugs for apr7fs and have them gapped to just under 1mm. As per previous post, the standard apr6fs should be 0.7mm, so should the gap of about 0.9mm be to big? This is the `map' i have on the blackbox at present. Does this look right? I understand the basics of what ignition does and but that the dwell does and how/ why i have no understanding What i believe is that the number in the box under dwell next to the rpm are the percentage numbers for the coil draw? i have no idea if these are even close as i have not been able to find any information on what coil draw a pinto should have. The software limits the combined advance and dwell to 90, but again i have no idea what 90 means? Can anyone explain this in a dummys guide for me. Thanks Steve
  19. I didn't. Drown rat by the time I got home! Awesome run out. Can't wait for Wales now
  20. Well new plugs are in and it runs so will have a run to the petrol station early doors. If it works see you at Wickes. If not have fun!
  21. Measured and they are just under 1mm. 1mm is very tight, so will leave them as they are. seems to rev ok. What would the symptoms be of the gap is too big?
  22. Thanks, tried looking at the website and got totally lost! I measured with feeler gauges and was just under 1mm.
  23. Perfect, thanks. They are set at about 1mm after checking with my old feeler gauges.
  24. Hi all I have been searching but cant find the answer to my spark plug question. I have a Pinto which has an fr32 cam and increased compression so have replaced my standard APR6FS plugs with APR7fs plugs. The question is, what gap should I have? The Haynes manual for the standard plugs should be 1.0mm (0.039in). Are the gaps factory set? or do I need to change them, if so to what? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Steve
  25. I have T1R's on my Zero and they are good for what they are. Dry roads you could not complain, predictable grip all the time. In the wet they are reasonable. If you push too hard in the wet they do let go, but nothing scary if driven normally. I tested this theory at the weekend too. Just my experience. I have used Yoko A539 and Toyo Proxe4. Both were OK, but the T1R's are a big improvement.
