Having spent a few quid this year putting bikecarbs and stuff on my 2.0L pinto i was well impressed when out last night with my mate in his lotus exige s (230bhp) that 0 to more than 60 but less than 100mph he was only just edging a way. i didn't expect that at all i,ve driven his car and its silly quick. last year with the standard efi setup and him in his non super charged exige he wiped the floor with me. this year not much in it glad i spent the money now the look on his face was worth it alone his face my face Can,t imagine what all you 170bhp + drivers hoods go like Dan
  3. In this weather the oil is running at 80deg when below 50mph but as soon as you start giving it some beans it shoots up to 95deg + then over the cat and fiddle it went up to 115deg thought it might be safer. anything over 100 i,m told is asking for trouble. Dan

  7. I,ve emailed both gbs and mk no reply? they must be doing well in this recession if they can,t be bothered to even send an email back thats mk and gbs off my list as a potential kit for next year. think i will buy a pipe bender off fleabay and make my own. Dan

    I used to go through the dartford tunnel a lot on my bike same difference just used to pretend i was under water and hold my breath for as long as poss (technically i was under water) Dan
  9. As far as i can tell all the specialist insurance policies are like that they charge very little for the insurance. prem choice did make a point of telling me i would loss the lot if i cancelled but at £125 to insure a quick rare car i,m not to fussed. Dan

I,ve just gone out to it and had another look, i,ve just bent the ratchet stop so it does not release when the peddle is at rest, took all the slack out and it now bites where i want it to, still think its the pressure plate at fault i,m going to get a comp one at some point but hopefully this will see the summer out, if not i,ll try the idea you suggested.     Dam Exhaust!

    was that bhp at the wheels ? my set up is generating 108bhp at the wheels injected head blade carbs bestek ignition and a 4 branch pipe and pulls 5th from 25mph on a 3.92 diff loads of torque there are a lot of exaggerated claims around for power outputs or lots of badly calibrated dynos my exhaust is from rh/gbs Dan

  14. What is the mod i was looking at pulling the cable as tight as poss then pinning the plastic semi circle so it can,t ping back.. Dan

I,ve got a feeling that my clutch pressure plate has had it .the gearbox became difficult this weekend just replaced the cable due to exhaust damage and the clutch is biting almost as soon as you move your foot off. the ratchet is working Anyone got any ideas before i haul the engine out if it is the clutch plate has anyone got any ideas for a standard one of good quality which can handle 150hp this one has done 1000miles and one barkstone.   16. i don,t like to run the fan all the time, on cooler days it was cooling a bit to much without the engine stat mine is on a thermostat now it kicks in at about 90deg basically in traffic or when thrashing it when driving normally it stays off, but i have an override switch just in case dan
  17. i seem to recall seeing that car and it had a lot of alloy sheet ducting all the air to to the rad and as you say engine tuning adds heat mine gained 30bhp this year and thats where all the probs started for me seems ok now except the stem seals are going poss due to running engine without a stat at 65 /70 deg also on the dyno runs it got very hot which i think may have done the head gasket again good luck Dan
  18. i was the same no stat just fitted a standard sierra one 87deg from halfords car is running much better than before sits around 90/92 on the gauge done 180 miles this weekend testing it in traffic thrashing over the cat fiddle etc and has not over heated at all Dan
  19. no mine is traditional front mounted last year before i tuned it it never spat water this year after tuning it started spitting out done the head gasket which heled but did not stop it changed the cap and it has slowed the spitting down to a level where the bottle does not overflow i,ve now got a 20PSI cap going to try that for a bit and see what happens. your gauge is in deg c? Dan

I,m with you i bought my "factory built" 2b brand new from them 2 days before they went bust waited 2 and half months for the car which was built and in the showroom when i put a deposit down. 2 days before they went bust they supplied it coincidence ?there were all sorts problems wipers electrics engine was knackered gearbox broke within days etc did they help me in anyway NO i had to buy everything i needed i spent nearly 2yrs slowly getting this car right Maybe i,ve had a bad experience with Rh / Gbs i don,t know but my next 7 will not be one of there's purely and simply down to once they have your money they don,t seem to care different name same people. I value customer service above all else. I pity all the lightweight owners out there at a guess your on your own. apart from help and advce from rhocar which i must add are great.. I was going to go for a zero but it will have to be something else just trying to work out the best company to use. or are they all this way ?

I had a 306 pug years ago and the cental locking stopped working on that basicaly wires brake in the door harness, you have to track it down and repair right bugg*r to do on the 306 my bro had same on his 306 but that was an earth so just poked a fresh earth in through the rubbers.   25. my clutch cable has fried again even with heat sheilding can anyone tell me what the long ones are from that don,t drop between pipes 2 and 3, is it some kind of cossy ? Dan
