    Clutch Pawl

Hi Chris, Met you at the show yesterday (helped you clip your clutch cable back on!). You gave me some food for thought regarding the clutch pawl as I am also having problems with engaging reverse. I'll let you know how it goes. Simple ideas are always the best! Thanks for the useful tips... regards Terry
  3. If there's one still going, I wouldn't mind a copy as well! cheers Terry
  4. Cheers all for the pointers. I'll check the clutch cable / adjuster first, then the plastic saddle mentioned by Andy, as there is quite a bit of play on the gear lever. Hopefully one of these will sort. Thanks Terry
  5. Hi, Having a bit of a gear selection gremlin. Started the car up for the first time the other day and put into 1st gear, no problems. Drove on to the drive no problems. Whilst engine running and with clutch depressed managed to select all gears with no problems. However when trying to select reverse I just got the horrible grinding of gears not meshing correctly. After trying for a while, turned engine off, put into reverse (with engine off). Started it back up and drove in reverse. The reverse gear had selected okay with engine off. I obviously have some sort of gear selection problem, however I know absoultely nothing about gearbox's. All I know is it is a 5 speed Sierra box. I am assuming it may be the gear selector needs adjusting? If so how in the hell do you get to it/ do it? Any advice would be of help as the Haynes manual is next to useless. Cheers Terry
  6. Hi Andy, Yep another one interested in the bearing if you can get hold of one. Let me know so that I can plan stripping the damn thing out in advance.... cheers Terry
  7. Thanks all, looks like I'm okay to carry on with my plans to fit the Dash board and trim edges as suggested!
  8. Probably a daft question, but can anyone out there tell me what is the SVA requirement for the padding on a dash board? I am about to fit my dash board which I have used an MDF base that I intend covering with black vynal. I have looked at putting a foam covering, but this to me looks pretty naff as any swtch's etc pull into the dash too much. I was considering using a layer of RH car carpet to provide a more firm padding. Would this be acceptable? If not what is?
  9. Thanks Mitch! After much perseverance actually got the beast fired up!! Now I can start looking at the rest of the electrics...."OH JOY"
  10. Hi I believe it to be an 84 Sierra which I think is the inductive type
  11. Hi, I'm currently building a 2b and have now ground to a halt... I have reached the dreaded wiring stage. The problem that I have is that this is a project I have picked up mid way through the build so all wiring is already "loosly" in place and nothing appears to be in the right place! Does any one out there have an "idiots" guide to the wiring for the starter/ altenator/ coil/ ignition????? The wiring is for a 2L Pinto.... cheers Terry
  12. Thanks Ian, Just about to join the club in the next few weeks! The car is now fairly well progressed, with most bodywork and engine in place. I guess I've been putting off the electrics but now I can't any longer! Looks like I'll have to sweet talk the missus into some more pocket money! cheers Tel
  13. Hi, I have taken on board a build project which somebody else had previously started. All was going really well until I started to look into the wiring....what a dogs b*****ks! I have found a few documents showing wiring details for Lightning looms? Unfortunately this is incomplete. Can anyone out there help or steer me in the right direction? I am at the point of ripping it all out and starting from fresh. Cheers Tel
