    Cast Timing Mark

Sorry all was typing in a hurry and forgot half of the sentence I meant to write. I know the timing marks on the cast pulley are meant to line up with a projection in the aluminium casting below the water pump housing but wasn't sure which one hence the photos. from the responses and after relooking at the haynes photo after a good sleep I realised its the one to the left of centre on the engine. Although this means I fitted the timing belt with it set to the wrong one

    Cast Timing Mark

Good Evening all, Can someone please tell me which of the two water pump casting marks is for timing? First pic is just off the left of the engine centre line (inline with the jubilee clip), the second pic is along the centre line of the engine. I have looked at the haynes photo but its unclear to me which is which. Thanks, Jamiep
  4. might be a daft idea but have you checked the rear drums, does sound like something is out of balance. Have you flat spotted a tyre? not normally noticable on tin tops but I felt it on my exmo after a "change the pants" moment.
  5. the collar is a press fit, I had to get a local firm to do it for me as the workbench you see in the photo was not man enough and fell appart. In the end they had to skim the insert in a lathe as it wasn't round! once on and fitted to the car the bottom plain section of the collar fits into the pinch collar on the front hub, as this is tightend it will clap it all in place.
  6. Probably sorted now but I have just found some photos of the suspension set up on my Exmo. this is the (leaking) P100 strut insert with the collar removed.

    Kin Nightmare

I think if you had left them in the door and someone found them, then they would have used them straight away (if badeggs) Its kind of like the feeling I had when loading the car in the enclosed back yard of my old house. the wife pulled the door to with a click and said "have you got your keys" I had to break the window to reach the latch as we were trapped
  8. When I did a rover gti a few years back the boss had some sort of production sealant on the taper aswell, it was a real pain to do. pullers are a must if you plan to reuse the old wheel, I bent mine!
  9. sorry for the delay in reply, I've been away. The front springs are from Robin Hood so not sure on poundage, I had a bit of trouble sourcing the damper insert as all the pattern strus I ordered seemed to be welded together and priced abit high, in the end I rang GBSc and they had some knocking around. If you don't have them alredy you will need some bearing rings for the top also, if you do a search on here for 'exmo' you should find a link for the correct bearings aswell.

    Update

Looking good, I really like the lights they compliment the nosecone opening and are a great way of having all-in-one units.
  12. the front damper is from a p100 (just the insert) which you need to press fit the threaded collar for the spring, I did mine about a year ago. the rear I'm not too sure on, I've been told original mini spec Gaz units fit but I don't know if any mods are needed. I've spoken to dampertec at one of the shows and the guy said they could make just about anything to match what you have if you send them some drawings or original parts. HTH Jamiep
  13. No, these where nothing like the GBS seats I sat in, I've seen the ones you mentioned in midlands wheels catalogue and on ebay but I didn't feel asthough they would be comfy for me on anything but short drives. I really liked the intertrim for support under the legs but the ones narrow enough for my car dug into my sides.
  14. Looks quite nice I thought. no need to slate someone for trying to put a sales pitch across, although I wouldn't pay that much.
  15. I also have a cheap tester I got off ebay, I found you need to screw the snap connector (female) onto the rubber hose with the guage quite tight, it then pushed the rubber down inside and formed a seal when snapped onto the male dummy plug. Also, as a warning! the dummy plug had an o'ring to seal againt the engine, mine moved out of the groove and allowed the plug to screw in too far and contact the piston!
  16. I'm saving for some interiors seating RX7's, they were really comfy and narrow enough to fit in my Exmo without digging into my back. see here RX7 seats
  17. must have miss heard, agreed the intatrim site says pair. Just looked on europaspares but it doesn't say? Either way they are good seats but I didnt feel comfy in the narrow ones needed for the Exmo, the wider ones felt great but wouldn't fit
  18. are you sure that price is for a pair? when I enquired at europaspares that was the price EACH! if it is your getting a great seat at a great price, unfortunatly I don't really fit in them
  19. I'll measure mine after tea and let you know

    Monaco Gp

Where did the wheel go? saw it get hit by another car but never saw where it ended up, bet it wasn't much use afterwards If ever there was a year someone would end in the drink I thought it was going to be this one, some of the closing speeds between the front runners and tail enders was scary.

    Trunk Racing

I've seen a couple of races before and didn't really enjoy it, there just too big and clumsy. They also wreck the circuits.
  24. Evening all, I've got the cylinder head off at the moment and I've got a couple of questions. I did a compression test and didn't notice the O ring had moved on the insert, this resulted in it going in too far and hitting 2 of the cylinders. Do I need to replace the pistons now? Also the gasket has left an imprint on the head and the block which doesn’t seam to want to shift, what are your recommendations for cleaning? Thanks.
