  1. Evening all,

Can anyone tell me if the ZX6R and ZX9R carbs fit on the same size maniflod?

Rang GBSc today for a price but they are not sure as they have only made 9's and I would like a rough price before dropping my carbs off, plus it gives me the option of searching for second hand units.

    Thanks,

    Jamie.

  2. at the front i use the centre weld point of the suspension top fabrication, at the back i use the diff, i have tried the front mounting point of the rear subframe but the trolley jack dragged the car sideways and lifted front and rear wheels. Looked like it was trying to twist the car.

Not sure how low your car is but i have to drive onto to strips of wood to lift it an inch to get the trolly jack under the diff.

  3. I take mine to a local quick clutch which have always been happy to MOT it, only problem I had was when the 'young skinny lad' was off and the tester couldn't get in the car. I drove it onto the ramp (very carefully) and sat in the car for the test.

If your unsure of any thing safety wise they will check and advise accordingly, I would rather them find a fault for me to fix safely then bluff it just to get on the road faster.

  4. Sorry for the delay in replying (tin top troubles) here are some pics of mine.

I've clamped a spirit level along the top edge of the internal steel frame to get a straight edge to measure off. The hinge is then positioned central along the internal frame.

as you can see here the door sits inside the screen frame which has worked well keeping out the rain/snow etc.

    Hope this makes sense.

  5. Not sure my measurements would be much use, I used 2b doors/roof on an Exmo, but I'll dig them out of the garage tomorrow and have a measure.

I drilled and tapped the steel frame of the door, then used a locknut on the inside. Didnt fancy loosing one the road.

  6. Just seen an advert on the gumtree iphone app under: East yorkshire\Hull\Cars, Vans & Motorbikes\Car Parts & Accessories\replacement parts in Hull: breaking engine & other parts £350

    Thought someone may be intrested.

  7. why bother hacking the pc, some cheeky bu$$er got my card details off a retailer and managed to blag Halifax phone banking (which I have never used) and got themselves £7k balence transfer.

First I heard was when I got my statement.

Weakest link in the security chain - the bank!

  8. on the point of profiteering, a Hull fuel company (naming no names **cough RIX cough** ) didn't suffer blockades in the last fuel shortage and put its prices up to ridiculous levels (probably less then prices now) but it got people's backs up to the point of not using them anymore. they still produce petrol and ship it around in barges (yes the floating type!) but just about all their stations have now shut.

  9. when mine did that, it was the points. Regapped and it ran for a couple of days but then had to replace. didn't cost much but had to order in as nobody stocked them anymore.

  10. anybody have any sensible replys?

it's not the mounting which is wonky it's the lock barrel in the relation to the cap that is out.

it's been assembled so it must come apart, what I need to know is how, has anyone stripped one to maybe replace a broken barrel etc.

I'll live with it for now as I have bigger issues to fix but would be nice to have it all lined up.

  11. Hi I've just fitted a new filler cap from CBS, but as you can see the lock does not sit straight in the cap, does anyone know how to remove the barrel so I can rotate and refit ?

on a side note, the original hole in the back of the car was plasmer cut and about 54 mm diameter. I killed a hand file trying to increase the size so bought a 60mm Qmax screw punch for £28 and was very impressed that it made such a good job even though it not designed for this thickness stainless.
