When the bushes are replaced -- look at fitting grease nipples to the outer tubes -- did this to Florin's 'bones when built & no sign of wear at 53K.

I agree, once upon a time in the army we had grease nipples on almost everything including Sargent Majors backside.

  2. All,

After a great weekend at Sant Pod it got me thinking what are the best mods we can do with our cars to improve straight line acceleration? Obviously we need grip, power and quick reactions, how can this be achieved and more importantly how much?

No I am not adding a jet engine to the roll cage!

  3. In my view it’s irrelevant on how much the sump is shortened the capacity should not change and you should fit wings, troughs and/or oil capacity elsewhere. It’s not just about lube the oil also helps to cool.

  4. Well done, how many more jobs on the list? You have just missed a great club weekend at Santa Pod. Let us know, we are really good at helping newbies and supporting your build.

When I was new and my gearbox failed the week before Stoneleigh the UK largest kit car show two strangers and club members (Gaz and Richy) sourced a gearbox and came around and fitted a new gearbox. Well worth the membership.

If they are standard bushes the tubes are only mild steel, and can rust if not greased well. and yes they will then act like files.

You can replace like for like with GBS ones, or there is another alternative, but not cheap, but they use stainless steel tubes, I can help with the price if you are interested, because that is what  do now.

    PM me

    Will do, thank you.

  6. They have elongated so the sleeve/tube is loose. I think the front went because I am extreme geometry set up, knackered a new tyre in less than 400 miles and rear I am guessing it was caused by my diff locking up. It was so tight when it failed I could not turn by hand.

Or I just had a poor bunch, who knows!
