My updates have been steady, but I can assure you we are making progress. The gaps on the panels are quite good now. I feel like I am bit over the top with basic things which is delaying the project
I have started to wire the car and have run my braided brake lines. The car is going for paint on the 19th of September, So I am up against it at the moment.
I have had all the CAD parts laser cut and waiting on the machining of the aluminium bits. I have had some quotes for the work and I think its too expensive. So I am still hunting around
Here is a picture of the laser cut front brackets for the towing eye. Fit is perfect. I made 2 types and sold the rest on eBay.
Well I finally, enlisted the help of the forums help again and roped Terry in for a quick engine transplant. I nicked the 1.8 engine from my Locost . The locust will be getting the 1.4 engine. Thank you very much Terry for the help.
Job well done and Terry has a smile on his face
I will be wiring all week, mounting the fuel tank and if possible run the fuel lines. I am off to Goodwood Revival at the weekend so I will miss some time on the car.
If anyone is at Goodwood let me know so I can arrange to come say hello

I have been trying to find a thermostat smaller than the car ones for a remote housing. Any suggestions? A link or where to buy would be great . Thanks
Anything with ~32mm OD will be great

What fabrication work would-be required
For me, engine mount and side panels for exhaust side exit. The Tiger is getting sold as well so its was easier to use all the bits from my old engine like mounts for a 1.8 zetec. I removed a drysumped 210bhp zetec to use for my new project.

touché......it feels like ages since we last spoke and had a good laugh.
Haha, I know I need to call round yours, we spoke about the transaxle, but I am sooo lazy and busy. I have managed to get the bolt pattern on the bellhousing measured and caded. So I will have a test plate cut, should make the adaptor plate work easier. I will send it down to you one of this days

Femster where are you and tonight could be a prob but I will let u know our lasses dad gone in hospital Sheffield for big op she there and I got kids and no hair depends what time she back
I would also need engine mounts for xe wouldn't I
Why you fitting a zetec if you got xe
Wombwell, to answer your question. I am fitting zetec as I am lazy. Engine bay was setup for the zetec, Bought the Xe to fit but can be arsed with the fabrication work as I have bitten off more than I can handle at the moment with projects

Good point about the MG Richard . But I have a good answer too. Nothing apart from the monocoque shell is left. So its been mordenised . Also old or new, shapes and style of objects appeal to various generations. No one really cares what is inside them. In this case the engine.
I understand your comment about personal preference, but I just think too many people still talk about these engines, when in my own experience, i just find them disappointing.
I would not even comment if someone was restoring an old car and sticks with the old engine. But when older engines are suggested for what are relatively new cars, it just confuses me

What is the point of this pinto's, character or not. It is like me using one of those old massive mobile phones because its old and alot of people stare at me because I have one. We are all into cars and things have moved on. Lets move with the time albeit we are all still a few steps behind.
Apart from the cost, you try and rebuild an old pinto, you will conclude getting a zetec/duratec is the best way to go. I found that out when i tried to rebuild an a-series engine for my Mg. It totaled £2000 for the mediocre performance and honor of saying my engine is original.
If you had a chance to take a ride in my Tiger or even whiz's zetec, then you will know they are not dull engines. Been in a few well setup xflows and pintos and in all honesty, i get bored of them pretty quickly
I have a complete XE setup in my garage that will see 200BHp. For the right price you can have it.

. Cant believe they got away with that

Get a 7/16 UNF tap, clear the damaged one out. On the damaged one, I will get a nyloc nut on the end of the seat belt bolt, Get a one longer if required. Will give you peace of mind then

If you go for the st.helens items I might be able to collect for you. If myself and the gent above can arrange a meeting point. I am in Ellesmer Port most days

I might be cynical, but I bet the installments do not get paid. Can you tell me how you are going to enforce payment? Take them to court? Personally, I think its a scam

Just noticed an advert for a car on ebay, in the questions section, someone offered to pay £110 a month over a 24 month period. He even mentioned signing a contract. Bear in mind the car did not have a buy it now price it was an auction
It really made me laugh, and I thought I will share with you lot

Always cheaper to get new seats unfortunately
