  1. I registered mine in October. The forms took a while to arrive. I just sent copies of my driving license, cover note and receipts for the kit and any others I could find like suspension parts. I didn't have receipts for the donor but sent a copy of the donor log book along with the insurance cover note and appropriate funds. I received an envelope from the DVLA about a week later that I thought was bad news, It turned out to be my new log book and registration information. A few days after that the confirmation letter and certificate for registration plates turned up - They arrived the wrong way round. I didn't need an inspection or any other proof of build like photos or other receipts. It was pretty straight forward and easy. Just need to be patient as usual with the DVLA. Good Luck
  2. I managed to replace my type 9 oil seal with it and the engine still in the car. Just took the prop shaft out and supported the engine while sliding the gearbox back enough to get at the seal at the front of the gearbox. Although I had to replace my engine main seal anyway so I thought while it was out I might as well do the gearbox too. Only 1 I couldn't get to was the speedo drive seal.
  3. Had my first drive in it yesterday. Nothing too strenuous. Got it up to 70. Nothing fell off Few squeaks and a bit of overheating followed by the expansion bottle overflowing. So need to create some bonnet vents and isolate the air filters so they are sucking in cold air instead of hot air. Other than that it wasn't too bad, pretty pleased with myself.
  4. I'm not sure. I assumed that they would need to check the car so it was a bit of a surprise to receive my log book before my confirmation letter. I vaguely remember the iva tester saying that they don't always check anymore. Either way happy days that I don't have to waste a day at the DVLA for nothing. Maybe they figured i was quite far to travel for an inspection.
  5. After 2 weeks wait, got my logbook so assume I don't need a dvla inspection. Day after the logbook arrived my tax disc and confirmation letter arrived with number plate certificate. I'm now all set for a drive! Now that its raining (typical)
  6. Keith, the tester at Kidderminster, is a nice fella and fair. He tested mine 4 weeks ago and passed it.
  7. Which testing station are you booked in at?
  8. I'd be interested in this if it fits the 2b
  9. I don't know much about the s7. I've no idea if it would fit or not. I'm after a complete widescreen as I don't really fancy making the gbs one

    2B Windscreen

Hi there everyone. Now that I've passed my IVA I'd like to get a windscreen for my 2b. If anyone has one for sale I'd be very interested.
  11. Keith is a top guy. Very fair. Couldn't be happier with the experience.
  12. Well after a 15minute retest, we can add another 2b to the "On Road" (as soon as the paper work is sent to dvl a for registration) roster. It passed without any problems. Thankyou to everyone who has helped me along the way, I couldn't have done it without you.
  13. Big day tomorrow. More nervous this time than last time, probably because this time it should pass! Fingers crossed and everything else that can be crossed swell
  14. I used an angry grinder on mine. Then fitted a hoop to support the bonnet that it could also slot into and held down by to bonnet locks. I haven't hinged it so it comes completely off, as does the nose which tilts forward then has a slide off hinge. Will try and load some pictures up.
  15. Need to make sure they are at least 100mm from brake lights but not less than 250mm from the road and are parallel to the road. If there are 2 fog lights they must be symmetrical I think. There is a thread about the wiring of them somewhere. In reality he just looked at them, checked they came on when they should and that was it. Mine was at the time too close to the brake light but easy to move and covered the old holes with a union jack sticker from Halfords.
  16. Retest booked for Monday 7th October 1.00pm
  17. Not rebooked yet as I want to make sure I've solved it. But I have the testers mobile number to save me going through VOSA ! Top guy!
  18. So far I've removed the prop and slid gearbox back. Replaced the engine oil seal (Nightmare) and also gearbox oil seals while I was at it. Now got flywheel back on and trying to align the clutch before reassembling and testing. Fingers crossed!
  19. I did hear that Kidderminster would be closing soon in favour of an approved centre system similar to the HGV testing system. So we'd have to find "Approved Centres" nearby to try and get an appointment at!
  20. Well I had my test today. Kidderminster, Keith the tester - very nice chap and very good tester. Failed on a few things A few pipes needed a little more attention in brackets Rear brake pipes needed better bracketing Fuel tank needed its tensioners moving from rear to on top Rear fog lamp needs to be 100mm from rear light cluster ( despite the pre marked rear wing from gbs!) watch out for this! Top of seat belt brackets needs a cover Couldn't do the emissions test as during the speedo test the car developed a major oil leak so need to replace crank rear seal All other tests passed 4 hours in total, most of which spent waiting for the brake tester machine to be fixed Very happy with that result All in all.
  21. The testers name is Keith I think. He sounded like a decent chap, nice to talk to.

    Iva Test Booked

I now have an IVA test date after a 5 week wait since sending in my paperwork. My test is on Monday 2nd September at 8.30am Kidderminster. I've hired a trailer as I don't fancy driving a potentially unsafe car there and back. Anyone who fancies coming to check my attempt before the test it would be most appreciated.
  23. I also have 4 spare maf's if anyone is in need
  24. Good news everyone. Problem solved! Turns out that when lengthening my MAF wires I mixed 2 of them up! Stupid me! However I now own a fault code reader and co2 meter If anyone is in need. Now if I could just prevent it from getting so hot! So many thanks for everyone's help, this is by far the best owners club !!
