  1. I think its normal to put the switch in to break the 12 volt feed to the coil. Jez
  2. Thanks guys now fitted on centre, brackets made from bonnet join to spindle holes. Jez
  3. Hi, I've a couple of questions re fitting mini wipers to a 2B with alligator bonnet. How have you mounted motor, I cant seem to find a way to fit without having to drill the bonnet. What length wiper blades are people using, I think 9" should work but I'm struggling to find some. thanks Jez

    Ignition Light

Basically the lamp is fed with +12volts ignition feed to one side and the other goes to the field winding of the alternator. When the alternator isn't turning the alternator earths the lamp through the field winding and it illuminates. When the alternator turns and begins charging the field winding gives out the charging voltage and the lamp has 12 volts both sides and it goes out. Sounds like you may have the lamp grounded instead of fed from ignition, it would have been fed an ignition feed internally in the Sierra binnacle. Hope it makes sense. Jez
  5. Try Webber, do a search on line for WEBCON it should give local distributors.

    Pinto Oil Pressure

Sounds fine to me. Haynes says oil pressure should be- 1.0 bar at 750rpm 2.5 bar at 2000rpm The relief valve opens at 4.0 - 4.7 bar, which could explain the pressure dropping off when you rev it. The response of the gauge is damped so it may not read full pressure when you rev. I think as long as you have the original oil warning light (operates when pressure drops to 0.6 - 0.3 bar) you should be safe. Jez
  7. Its a SOHC pinto, I'm not sure if the bits are the same. If the MAF and throttle pot are the same I'd be interested, do you get to the area meet at the Malt Shovel last wednesday of the month? Cheers Jez
  8. All sorted now thanks for the responses, it was the timing 180 deg out. I was careful not to change the timing on the engine as it was a goodun, I guess when I put the ht leads in the right holes it showed up the previous owners mistake. Wasted a few days assuming the timing was right, but I can say now I know almost all there is to know about how the injection works now. Jez
  9. I'm pretty sure I've got the timing right, how could you check if the timing was 180 deg out. Thanks Jez
  10. I'm looking for some EFI bits to try and fix a non starter, I need ECU, MAF, Dizzy/TIF unit, throttle pot. I'm in Coventry if anyone nearby can help. Thanks Jez
  11. Can any of you fuel injected hoodies help. I'm building with a 2.0EFI pinto, ran fine when taken out of doner 18months ago. I've tried starting but it wont fire up. I've checked timing thats okay. Its getting sparks timing light flashes. Its getting fuel, well perhaps too much after cranking when I take out the plugs their wet? Any ideas whats causing the over fueling, MAF seems okay, throttle pot okay. Look forward to your ideas, Jez
  12. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Elwe, 1000 rev per mile on the speedo cable rings a bell, will make cal. easy 4000 pulses per mile. Only thing is do you have anything that could confirm this. Thanks Jez
  13. Can anyone using an electronic speedo confirm the following for me. Rolling circumference of wheel (RHSC 15") 1791mm, giving 894.4rev/mile. (measured wheel centre to road for rolling radius of 285mm) I have 3.92:1 diff, giving at prop 3521.7 revs/mile. Speed tranducer 4 pulses/rev, total 14087 pulses/mile. Firstly does this sound about right. Second I am assuming the speedo cable matches prop revolutions 1:1 can someone confirm thanks. Jez
  14. Just to note, I didn't pick the fuses there Vicky Greens. I moved the wiper because its not safe to go bigger than 20A on the lights as they are wired in series and the fuse may not blow due to wire size restricting current flow which means heat and fire. With headlamps on about 7amps is pulled with one fog fitted add 2amps, reverse 2 amps, brakes 3.5amps. So we have a total of 14.5amps. And if you flash main beam thats another 7.5 amps, indicating thats about 2amps. Peak current could be 23amps, with a wiper going that means fuse blow to me. As the wiper and heater are wired in parallel off the second 20amp and the length is fairly short it would be possible to increase the fuse if neccessary. I have ran them together and they dont blow the fuse, but I will check the current draw more carefully before finishing the wiring. Jez
  15. Robinhood did send out pieces of angle to owners to fix this problem. The angle was 1.5" by 4" ish and bolted on top and back through bulk head, also owners were advised not to weld but drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop it spreading. I also supplimented with 1" angle longitudinally. Seemed to work fine. Jez
  16. When I looked they were as follows 10A Side lights/switch illumination 20A Heater Only 20A Wipers/all other lights/clocks 15A Horn/hazards I moved the wipers to the same fuse as the heater as I am only using a mini heater. Jez
  17. Hi, I'm building a 2B plus with EFI and Coolman rad. I'm not sure about how to latch the bonnet I think for SVA it must latch when closed, any suggestions appreciated. Jez
  18. Can anyone recommend a good supplier for a set of instruments, speedo, tacho, fuel temp etc. Thanks Jez (PS I think Lowtension Ltd have gone bust)

    Vernier Cam Pulley

Ian, I have scanned the data sheets that came with my FR32, the data sheets cover most cams. Let me know your email(or email me and I'll reply) and I'll send them to you. Jez
  20. Been trying to get hold of Low Tension to buy some gauges. Tried phoning only answer machine. Tried online no access to server. They've not gone bust have they.
  21. Cheers Guys, was just a little concerned about the fuel pressure. Jez
  22. Just like to get a bit of feed back of fuel pipes for injection. I'm using 8mm copper pipe through the tunnel and rubbber hose on the ends with jubilee clips. Is this method okay for the fuel pressure needed for injection and what methods have other used. Cheers Jez

    Help, Sva Tomorrow

Jase, are you using a a header tank with the cortina radiator, it could be just venting water as it expands, it would come out of the side pipe under the rad cap. You need the header tank to catch the expanding water as it gets sucked back in when the rad cools. Just a thought, but you'll probably tell me the gauge is in the red. Jez
  24. Dave, which Transit? engine/year etc. Cheers Jez
  25. Hi, the cracks where a known problem on the S7 RHSC sent out pieces of angle to all/most customers which where to be bolted against the front of the foot panels and through engine bay floor. My car developed cracks similar to yours, I fitted the angle as supplied plus some underneath along the return of the floor back past the foot well. Its also worth drilling the end of the crack to relieve stress and stop the cracks spreading. Jez
