  1. You could try opening it in notepad. There'll probably be a load of gobbledigook (spelling?) but you might just find your data strewn about in there... Good luck

  3. Thanks guys. B&Q had sold out. Halfords had some, but the set I saw looked expensive for what you got. Machine Mart had some nice ones, with a rubber handle, but only went up to T40 (Terry - thanks for you info, as I'd have probably gone for this set, which wouldn't have got me very far....) Went to a motor factors and they had a few different sets - got a set of 9 (including T45 and T50) for £6. Money well spent, I think.
  4. Fantastic, thanks Terry Right, I'm off to B&Q to get some new kit... (well, it is my birthday soon...!) Cheers James
  5. As mentioned on another thread, I'm swapping out the RH Racaro seats for some cobra clubman's. My latest thinking is that I'll attach the new seats using the subframe from the racaro's (easier than manufacturing the support from scratch). Questions is, it looks like the racaro seat is attached to the subframe using torx bolts. Can anyone confirm this - any also this size of bolts (looks like 2 different sizes) - before I go out and spend my dosh on some nice new torx keys, which may be the wrong size / or may not even by torx bolts??? I'm obviously familer with Alen keys, but haven't come across the torx/star shaped fittings before. Any help appreciated. Thanks James

    Not for the cat though
  7. Yep, I've spent ages with the seats in the car, practicing steering, changing gear etc at different heights. I was planning on bolting straight to the floor, and 5-6 inch felt about right. But the latest plan is to use the subframe from the old seats - which will make the seat a little higher, but will allow them to adjust back and forward etc. With the additional height, I might not need to recline them so much, so may be able to have around 4in.
  8. I'm fitting some cobra clubman's too, but recon I need a full 6in lift at the front, to get a nice relaxed driving style!
  9. Great stuff. Thanks for all the photos and thoughts. I'm happier now I know it's not just my that needs quite a few additional inches! I've now got some good ideas on what I can do. Thanks again James

    Sva Test Result

Geat news. Bring on next week!
  11. I'm going to swap out the RH supplied seats and replace them with cobra seats. I've played around with different positions of the cobra seats, and reckon the most comfortable (for a nice relaxed driving style...!) is to lift the front of the seat up by 6in. I think I'll not bother with seat runners, and just fix the seat straight to the floor. But I need to fabricate something to accommodate the (relatively steep) angle of the seat bottom. Here's a (very!) rough diagram – I need to build some supports to go in the red areas (front and back fixings). Can anyone give me some guidance / thoughts on a good way of doing this?? Any help greatly appreciated. James
  12. RH supplied me with the correct plug for this - and it did need oil putting in it.
  13. Hi Stan Can you describe where abouts on the box this is? If it's on the nearside, and towards the middle (looking front to back) then I think it's likely to be the filling hole. If it's further back it could be the hole where the speedo cog goes, or if on the offside, the speedo cable connection. Hope this helps

Hi Mike Is there any chance you could post the indicator stalk extensions? (Obviously I'll pay postage). Happy to pay a fee / donation for your time in sorting it out etc too! Thanks James
  18. Col Could you ask the seller to MOT it for you, and you pay the cost, and maybe a little extra for their 'inconvenience'?? Just a thought.

    Tin Top Insurance

I've just done mine through Admiral. I got a cheaper price by doing it through their internet site directly (rather then through confused.com etc). Then phone them up too, and got a slightly cheaper price again. I actually went for a multi vehicle policy, so my wive will join Admiral from Jan next year when her existing policy runs out. Saved even more cash doing this - £100 on mine and £150 on my wives. Maybe worth a look James
  23. Hi Stan The pipework looks fine. I'm not sure about the flexi pipes though. If these are the ones supplied by RH, then I don't think they'll be suitable as the plastic isn't graded for brake fluid. You can easily swap this for some flexi pipe which is ok though...see here: Link Good look. Well done on the photo posting! Harvs.
